Loom is a fantastic way to reduce waste in your business. By working asynchronously — you can often get more done, faster. Instead of a meeting or an email, send a Loom recording! It'll provide clarity and context, along with your tone, to the recipient without interrupting their workflow. Yes—meetings are interruptions to work actually getting done. If you can minimize meetings, you can increase productivity. —— 🛑 - I'm not saying meetings aren't necessary... But... Most of them aren't. Lol.

Thanks for saying this out loud, Anu Bharadwaj!🙏 Meetings are indeed the number one barrier to productivity, and that's a tough truth to face for many companies. It's precisely the point we made in our latest blog post filled with examples from real life. (link in the comments) We love to see this topic gaining momentum, as well as the many illuminating insights and improvements coming out of it. Kudos to Atlassian and Loom for creating efficient solutions that enable smarter ways for collaboration. 🤌 #productivity #productivityhacks #getworkdone
Meetings are the number one barrier to productivity. It’s not just the volume of meetings that harms efficiency, but what happens in them: the struggle to speak up, the repetition of information and that lingering thought, “Could this have just been an email?” A staggering 72% of meetings are found to be ineffective. Despite this, companies still default to meetings. Loom has changed my routine, with async videos replacing many of my meetings. Turns out, I'm part of a growing trend – a whopping 77 million Looms were recorded in 2023. Loom isn’t my only strategy for reclaiming time on my calendar. I also weave in pre-reads, set clear agendas, and kick off meetings 5 minutes past the hour. This gives me a moment to breathe, take notes and transition between discussions. These small adjustments have been game-changers for me. For more tips, check out the report. https://lnkd.in/gWMZ3-fi

Want to reduce meeting overwhelm? Loom is one tool teams are using to reduce the number of meetings by replacing them with short videos that: 👉 Provide updates on work 👉 Show the team where you left off on a project 👉 Walk team members through a process or document 👉 Respond to an email that would take a long time to write 👉 Respond to an email where tone and body language is especially important In a hurry? You can watch the Loom someone sends you at 1.5 speed. 🏃♂️ Are you using Loom to improve asynchronous work and reduce time in meetings? I’d love to hear about your experience.

I find this to absolutely be true. Meetings are almost always the enemy of productivity, which makes sense if you understand the talking versus doing dichotomy. I like to think of meetings like concurrency: it always imposes overhead and it always has the potential to bring performance benefits, but even if it brings performance benefits, that doesn't guarantee that those benefits will be greater than the cost of the overhead. Meetings, emails, messages, and every other form of collaboration can be incredibly powerful. A chainsaw is also powerful. What percentage of your daily tasks would be better if you used a chainsaw? Prefer focused intensity over collaboration unless the benefits of the latter clearly outweigh the former.

In the era of AI, time management will continue to be a challenging and intriguing issue to address. From a corporate perspective, it’s advisable to adopt short, engaging video clips, similar to ‘reels’, for disseminating information. These brief videos are often viewed during downtime and could effectively serve as a corporate social media tool...

B2B Content Marketing Agency CEO | Author, Speaker & Podcast Host | Focus on Content Repurposing and Distribution (spoken about nothing else since 2016!)
Striving for productive meetings in 2024...are you with me? Let's be real - who enjoys unstructured, aimless meetings, especially when time is a precious commodity? I'll confess, impatience is a virtue I'm actively working on, and nothing tests it quite like a meeting that doesn't lead anywhere. In the realm of remote teams, balancing face-to-face contact with productivity can be tricky. That's why, at Content 10x, we're on a mission this year to improve our meetings. Not that we're bad at it, but we want every minute invested to yield actionable results and a clear path forward. Here are the steps we're taking to make our meetings work for us: 📌 Evaluate necessity: Could it be Slack conversation instead? 📌 Set an agenda: Setting and sharing an agenda beforehand gets everyone on the same page, literally! 📌 Arrive prepared: Because we all hate having to come up with ideas or approvals on the spot 📌 Document and recap: Document key takeaways and actions throughout the meeting and recap them at the end. So simple, but so many meetings don't result in all actions being documented. It's a work in progress, I'd love to know your go-to strategies for hosting effective team meetings. (Or should we schedule a meeting to dive deeper? 😂) #meetings #efficiency #productivity

The #1 productivity killer for corporate employees? Meetings. . . . I remember back when I was in corporate my manager used to drag us all into a 20-minute "team meeting" where we discussed when we could have the next, longer meeting. With Zoom, this situation has worsened. Since then I've always preferred emails, memos, voice noted & loom videos over meetings. But if you still have to hold meetings, here are a few hacks: 1) Set the meeting right before lunch to everyone is eager to get it done fast and leave. 2) Give a written agenda via email in advance. 3) If it's a physical meeting, don't use chairs or sofas. Let it be a stand-up meeting.

Let’s be honest—how many of your meetings are a complete waste of time? I am saying that after something happened this morning. In a world drowning in digital tools, why are we still addicted to meetings that could’ve easily been emails? Is it laziness, or just a need to feel busy? I'm not saying I hate meetings, but let’s face it: at least 80% are productivity killers. Even internal meetings too! Are we so hooked on the illusion of collaboration that we’re mistaking endless Zoom calls for actual work? Does having a packed calendar really mean we’re getting things done, or are we just feeding into corporate theater? Important Takeaways: 🚫 Fewer, more focused meetings – Only gather when it’s essential. 📧 Use efficient communication channels – Many meetings could easily be emails or quick chats. ⏳ Don’t equate busy with productive – Packed calendars don’t always mean progress. 🔑 Focus on real work – Meetings should fuel action, not delay it. It's time to rethink our obsession with meetings. Are they truly valuable, or just a convenient excuse to avoid tackling real tasks? What’s your take? #AntiMeeting #ProductivityMyth #WorkSmarterNotHarder #CorporateCulture #TimeIsMoney

2moYou've got me hooked on Loom. Just going through a bunch of ideation/next steps today with someone and decided to loom it instead of setting up a call. It's a beautiful thing 🙂
