𝑬𝒙𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒂 𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒋𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒚! I’ve recently completed the 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐆𝐏𝐓 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 offered by 𝐕𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, and it’s been a game-changer for how I view the integration of AI in education. This course highlighted how 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐈 can transform teaching and learning by enabling educators to: 1. 𝐑𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 2. 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 3. When we tried to fool teachers into thinking AI was EdTech, we lost them on the real value of what it provides: personalization opportunities for their students and creative adaptations of the instruction. Quite frankly, lessons in seconds is an insult to the profession. The issue is you can't sell licenses that way, and data analysis just isn't all that sexy. This is why a teacher who keeps a simple excel spreadsheet of ideas and nuances of their children (no IDs), uploads that spreadsheet to a free ChatGPT and asks it for ideas on differentiating the lesson they already created will be infinitely more connected to AI than anything else. This is also why current EdTech providers who existed...say 12 months ago and beyond...must not take the bait. Let the hype of the gym membership models out here subside...50 licenses in a school with 3 teachers using it beyond a week is hardly the bastion of AI adoption. Use AI to enhance what you already provide. It is human augmentation, anything else is evanescent.

Recently, I ran a workshop for 12 educators, digital consultants, and decision-makers from various schools and the Department of Education A big part of our discussion was about how AI can be accessed by students and how it should support teachers, not replace them. We talked about how specialized AI bots could help with educational tasks and improve results through better prompting techniques. Even today, there are plenty of use cases that provide real value to teachers, learners and parents. As the first schools start using AI for both students and teachers, the lessons learned can help other schools use AI as well. 1. AI Applications as Helpers in Preparing and Reviewing Lessons - Text-generating AI can assist in creating lesson plans, tests, exams, and other educational materials. - Lesson plans, worksheets, and exams can also be generated for different performance levels and languages. - AI applications can correct assignments, provide feedback, evaluate diagnostic tests, and generate progress reports. 2. AI Applications as Assistants in the Classroom - When used in the classroom, AI applications can address individual needs and questions from students, enabling a more personalized and differentiated learning environment. This can significantly reduce the effort required for individual support. - An AI application like ChatGPT can provide students with feedback on their questions at any time, reducing the barrier to asking about things they don’t understand. - Students can control their own learning experience and independently learn and research. 3. AI Applications as New Resources in the Classroom - An AI application like ChatGPT can access a variety of information and data, useful for both lesson preparation and during the lesson itself. - It can serve as a source that encourages critical reflection and acts as a catalyst and virtually limitless source of creativity. Workshop recap below https://lnkd.in/eP-Kp5nz Thanks Jamie Parmenter Chris Uwaje and Alex Belov for your engagement and comments on my initial post from 2 weeks ago! #AI #learning #education #GenAI
