And our generation has the duty to do the same and make our country more green. In an average if one individual can plant and take care of 10 trees throughout his life, that means country will get around 14 billion new trees. Think about greening either sides of our 1.5 lakh km highways and 64 lakh kms other roads along with 1 lakh km of railway lines. How cool that will be. A significant bottleneck in CFRR (Community Forest Resource Rights) recognition is seen in the claim filing procedure when individual Gram Sabhas laboriously piece together scattered information and documents spread across different government departments. A solution developed by the Initiative on the Forest Economy (IoFE) of the Bharti Institute of Public Policy, ISB is #RatiFi, an Android application that supports forest-dependent communities in gaining security of tenure for #CFR titles by generating claims at scale. RatiFi’s simple user guide delivers key pre-filled information to facilitate quick and error-free CFRR title claim filing. The built-in smart logic engine allows for easy tracking of the claim application’s status, staying abreast of Gram Sabha meetings, and empowering Forest Rights Committees (FRCs) to easily coordinate with the administration. It conveniently streamlines the filing process by storing necessary documents, including the Record of Rights, authenticated forest boundary maps, and printable templates for all relevant government forms. The IoFE team has undertaken training sessions for Panchayat clusters, newly formed FRCs, field coordinators, and interns to disseminate the basic know-how necessary for effectively using RatiFi in all pilot locations. Follow Initiative on the Forest Economy (IoFE) to delve deeper into the nuances of technological interventions for formalising the forest economy. Sandip Chowdhury Abhijeet K.
RatiFi: Technology for Sustainable Forest Management To explore how #technology can give a fillip to productivity while simultaneously contributing to conservation of resources, the Initiative on Forest Economy team at the Bharti Institute of Public Policy, ISB, has built a technology for streamlining community led Sustainable Forest Management in India. ForestFi is a Technology stack designed to create improved implementation of CFRR (Community Forest Resource Rights) recognition and increased productivity for the communities resulting in Sustainable Forest Management. One of the key components of ForestFi is RatiFi. RatiFi smoothens the Community Forest Rights claim generation process and provides a tracking system to know the progress in claim filing. This novel digital application also acts as a repository to store the documents which are preserved digitally and enable claim filing at scale. Read more about ForestFi here, https://lnkd.in/dhfikCdR RatiFi has been tested and rolled in several blocks of Simdega, Jharkhand. The field trainees of #IoFE provided trainings sessions to Forest Rights Committees (FRCs) at various Panchayat clusters and were successful in resolving initial challenges in handling the application. In this scorching heat of 50°C, everyone is looking for tree shade to park their vehicle or seek some respite. However, when it comes to planting those trees that provide us shade, we often hesitate or overlook the importance. At Amicus Legal, we were inspired by a thought-provoking suo-moto judgment passed by the Hon'ble Rajasthan High Court in "𝑰𝒏 𝒓𝒆- 𝑺𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒕 𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑶𝒇 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆" aimed at protecting the environment. As part of our commitment and CSR activity, we planted several trees. It’s not only the State's responsibility but also our fundamental duty, as per Article 51-A(g) of the Constitution of India, 1950, to protect and improve our natural environment. We shouldn't wait for Environment Day to plant trees—let's do it every possible day and take responsibility for nurturing them to grow and provide shade for future generations. I am impressed by India's commitment to tree planting. It is clear that they have learned from their past mistakes and are now taking a more sustainable approach. #sustainability, #climatechange, #investment, #climatefinance, #impactinvestment, #FUTUREEngineNet, #RougeInternational
