I find it really useful when learners say what they like about the training. This helps me know what aspects to keep and also to express to you the benefits of contacting me to see if we are a good fit for your safeguarding training (donna@spectrumsafeguarding.co.uk). Here are some snippets from today's learners from the housing sector. A special thank you to the person that said "It was a very reflective session" and "I appreciate you". However knowledgeable you are, effective training takes a lot of energy in order to provide the right pace, depth and response to the specific group. #safeguarding #childprotection #adultsafeguarding #training #safeguardingtraining #housing #community Personally I have always found the classroom challenging as a student and so I want training to be accessible for everyone because safeguarding is so important. I do this with use of pictures, colour, mixed media and group interaction, I try and make learners feel safe to share their thoughts and concerns. I want them to realise their value in the training room and within safeguarding practice. I keep learning and reviewing, things can always be better.

Service Head - Head of Volunteer Operations (Childline) and Participation at NSPCC - Leading Induction Training and Volunteering for Childline and Youth Participation across the NSPCC
How can we ensure that we 'hear' what young people are telling us about their lives and experiences and how can we reflect that in our assessments? NSPCC Learning have published a new briefing summarising learning from case reviews aiming to improve practice around the 'voice of the child'. Key areas of learning include: 💎 Understanding the concept of the child’s voice 💎 Integrating it into assessments and decision-making processes 💎 Acquiring relevant skills and knowledge for thoughtful consideration, and 💎 Fostering relationships to ensure effective communication with and understanding of the child’s viewpoint #nspcc NSPCC #childline #insight #briefing #learning #training #cpd #socialwork #casereview #childsvoice #participation #communication #assessment #buildingrelationships #everychildhood

Sometimes we don't want to think about the future for our kids, because it can feel so uncertain. There are some hard truths many parents of children with SEND will have to come across one day. While our Learning for Life project is useful for a wide range of topics and issues, there is a thread throughout our work of safeguarding and giving learners the tools to grow up to be safe, secure, and to thrive - whatever this looks like for them. Read our most recent blog to learn more about the practical solutions we provide to these hard truths, what we teach to our learners, and have your mind put at ease as a parent. What's more, it's all FREE! 👉 https://lnkd.in/eYkF-_jR #VulnerableAdults #Safeguarding #RSE#SEND #LearningForLife #FreeResources

Children do not need training to meet unrealistic adult expectations. Let them be children and develop at their own pace, right where they are & in their way. Let them be 1, 3, 4, 6, or 9. Let them learn in their time. Adults who are trained in child development know that it's about meeting them where they're at, DAP, & how they grow. #DevelopmentallyAppropriatePractice #DAP #LetChildrenBeChildren #StopAdultExpectations #DevelopmentIsAProcess #LearningIsAProcess

🚨 NEW for September: SEND Rapid Response training 🚨 Our training team has been working really hard and are excited to launch our new SEND Rapid Response training for schools. We're also incredibly excited that the brilliant and wonderful Sarah Helton, Back Pocket Teacher, will be supporting and delivering the training which aims to support children and young people with additional needs and disabilities after a bereavement. Sarah, who has worked in the Special Educational Needs/Disabilities (SEND) field for more than 25 years, said: “The needs of children and young people with SEND are often overlooked due to their cognitive or communication differences. We know that a young baby can be affected by the death of a parent. If a baby has the capacity to experience this, then every child with SEND has at least this level of understanding and it is often much higher than we realise.” The 1-hour online course is designed to help schools immediately following a death in the school community. Find out more about SEND Rapid Response and how you can book your training ➡️ https://brnw.ch/21wMp2s

Five Protective Factors are the foundation of the Strengthening Families Approach: parental resilience, social connections, concrete support in times of need, knowledge of parenting and child development, and social and emotional competence of children. Research studies support the notion that when these Protective Factors are well established in a family, the likelihood of child abuse and neglect diminishes. Research shows that these protective factors are also “promotive” factors that build family strengths and a family environment that promotes optimal child and youth development. This framework can be added to any services that you are already providing families. I can offer this training for your group and the time of the training can be customized to fit your individual needs. Please contact me if you would like your agency to be trained.
