🥳 This week I am, as many others at Bayer, celebrating 1 year since we started our journey as coaches, catalysts and architects of one of the biggest and most epic transformations in the corporate world. 🇩🇪 1 year ago, I travelled to our Germany headquarters to attend a 3 day session to learn more about our transformation journey and I received an invitation to become a coach. 🏆Since then, a lot has happened. And as I was reflecting on it, I was attracted by the difference between “Winning Shallow” and “Winning Deep”, a concept that was coined by Dr Pippa Grange , author of best selling book “Fear Less” and former head of people and team development at the football (soccer) association in the UK among other impressive roles in her career. 👎🏼“Winning Shallow is when people achieve something and within a day of that achievement, the scarcity mentality creeps in again. Many high achievers can’t basically feel their success, they can’t enjoy it for a second because straight away they are into the next thing”. 👎🏼“When we win shallow, we feel urgency. It is about winning to avoid not being good enough and we never, really, truly, wholeheartedly believe that we’re enough. It is comparative, it is about dominating the other and we are never going to feel fulfillment in that”. 🏅“Winning deep is where you can feel the richness of your journey. You are attached to the joy and the struggle. You are attached to the mess. And it is generally done for reasons outside of yourself and a fulfillment of our egoic needs. It is done more from a soul level. It is done because we can. And because there is a wild desire in it”. 🏅“Winning deep is a soulful, deep joy in having achieved something. You have to feel your achievements” 🏅Today and for the most part of the transformational journey, I have decided to win deep. 🏅We have accomplished a lot and we deserve to feel it and enjoy it. 🏅There has been joy and struggle, it has definitely been messy but the purpose of what we are doing is above all of us. 🏅We can do this, we can be a better company for patients, farmers and consumers. 🏅We can be a better company for all of us working here, with the best growth and development opportunities, with the best rewards we have ever seen. 🏅The months ahead of us will continue to be challenging and we will persevere with the same enthusiasm and hope that has brought us here and driven by the firm belief that what we are doing matters and that it will offer us and the generations to come a much brighter future. 🥂Cheers to the next 12 months and for many more to come!
