Here's question 2 from the WeCops team! Q2. What challenges will policing face in 2024 and how can we deal with them?

There are a variety of ways to detect weapons, each has its own benefits depending on the environment. Open-carry weapons detection using existing cameras can be effective for parking lots or wide open areas, however it loses effectiveness when deployed inside the building when shots are already likely fired. Overt concealed-carry weapons detection systems are very effective for stadiums and public venues when security staffing budgets are already allocated to man the system. However, an overt system in other environments like a school loses effectiveness because there are so many doors that likely won’t be covered and you need to budget additional staffing to manage the system at the doors. Keep in mind that no system has 100% detection ability, nor should any weapons detection system claim to prevent an active shooter situation. These systems are tools which require other layers to be effective - i.e. deploying a weapons detection system with no on-site security team to respond doesn’t make sense. In my experience with weapons detection at our client sites, approximately 95% are passive weapon carriers who forgot to leave their weapon at home or in the car. #publicsafety #weaponsdetection
