The Agricultural Recovery Program (ARP), an initiative of @lagosfoodbank in partnership with The Global FoodBanking Network @foodbanking and supported by The Rockefeller Foundation @rockefellerfdn and The PIMCO Foundation, is focused on addressing food loss at production level through the rescue of surplus agricultural produce which will be distributed to vulnerable households while also reducing the environmental consequences of food loss and waste and its impact on climate change. In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals 2 (Zero Hunger), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), the program is set to reduce food loss and waste, address food insecurity in vulnerable communities, promote sustainable practices, and foster collaborations to achieve these global development goals. Through partnerships with farms, food markets, supermarkets, seaports and airports surplus agricultural produce will be rescued and distributed through the nutrition focused programs of the food bank to its beneficiaries. The Global FoodBanking Network strengthens the efforts of food banks across different continents to reduce hunger and cut food waste within their respective countries amid the ongoing global food crisis to address both the immediate needs of their communities and build lasting food recovery and hunger relief capacity. This support will provide immediate hunger relief to 700,000 people and build longer term food systems resilience for millions more. #THISISNOTALAGOSSTATEPROJECT #lagosfoodbankinitiative #agricoveryprogram #foodrescue #sdg1 #sdg12 #sdg17 #sustainabledevelopmentgoals #socialimpact #socialresponsibility #sustainability #partnerships #farmrescue #fruitrecovery #lfbi #agenda2033

TRACTOR FOR GRAINS INITIATIVE PIONEER. We are passionate about ensuring food availability and accessibility in Nigeria, Africa and the world. At U-Farm, everyone is a farmer🌱🌱. Contact us
🌾 World Food Day 2024: Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future🌾 At U-FARM Africa, we are committed to transforming agriculture and ensuring that the right to food is upheld across the continent. This year’s theme, “Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future,” reminds us of the urgent need for everyone to have access to nutritious, affordable, and sustainable food. As the global population continues to grow, so does the importance of food security. U-FARM Africa is proud to be at the forefront of this movement, empowering smallholder farmers with the tools, knowledge, and resources to enhance their productivity and promote sustainable farming. Our mission is clear: to bridge the gap between traditional farming and modern technology, ensuring that every community, no matter how remote, can produce enough food for today and for future generations. 🌍 We’re helping to build a resilient agricultural sector that prioritises not just feeding people, but nourishing communities with healthy, diverse food. When farmers succeed, entire communities thrive—and that’s what we work towards every day. On this World Food Day, let’s reflect on the importance of agriculture and the critical role it plays in creating a better life for all. Together, we can ensure that food security is not a privilege, but a right for every person, everywhere. #WorldFoodDay2024 #RightToFood #UFARMAfrica #AgricultureForChange #SustainableFarming #FoodSecurity #FeedingTheFuture #EmpowerFarmers #ZeroHunger #BetterLifeBetterFuture

💡 What is the future of food? According to the World Food Programme, over 700 million people are facing chronic hunger amidst global conflict and climate crisis. #DidYouKnow? A great number of the starving population are the very people who bring food to your table. The UN’s SDG number 2, Zero Hunger, links the effort to end hunger and achieve food security with sustainable agriculture, which we can only attain when we empower smallholder farmers and alleviate rural poverty. It means that our future food security depends on whether or not our farmers prosper. At Jiva, we care most about improving the lives of smallholder farmers. We work to provide them with access to high-quality agricultural inputs, transparent markets for their produce, and reliable agronomy expert advice. By helping farmers empower themselves, we are steps ahead in ensuring the longevity of this ancient profession and, ultimately, the future of the world’s food security. United Nations Committee on #WorldFoodSecurity According to the United Nations, a staggering 735 million people are facing hunger worldwide. That’s one in ten people! What is #Norway doing to fight hunger and ensure food security? Last year, #Norway invested 582 million USD in food security, #fisheries, and #agriculture in developing countries. #Norway is working for increased local production of food, supporting many countries' ambitions of being less dependent on expensive imported food. 🌾#Norway supports small-scale farmers #Norway supports partners and projects that help small farmers in the Global South produce more food through sustainable methods. Family farms produce about 80 percent of the world's food, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Despite often working on small plots of land, family farmers are crucial for food security, particularly in developing countries. 🌻 Investing in value chains From farm to market! We invest in value chains to ensure food can be transported and distributed efficiently to cities and communities. 🌱 Adapting to climate change Food production must adapt to a changing world. Norway supports the development of seeds that can withstand extreme weather and technology that protects crops from natural disasters and shifting climates. 🌏 Conflict remains the primary cause of hunger in the world. Norway supports people affected by war and conflict with food assistance and self-help initiatives. One of our key partners in this work is the World Food Programme, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020. #FoodSecurity #EndHunger #UNSustainableDevelopmentGoals Photo credit: Lotte Nilsen Brudevoll

On World Food Day, we are reminded that food security is a fundamental pillar for human survival and well-being. In Africa, where agriculture employs a significant portion of the population, ensuring sustainable food systems is vital for lifting millions out of hunger and driving development across the continent. At Sterling One Foundation, food security is one of our thematic focus areas. We are committed to advancing sustainable agricultural practices that empower smallholder farmers and ensure access to diverse, nutritious, and affordable food for all. By promoting innovative solutions within agriculture, we are working toward long-term food security that benefits both present and future generations. We invite partners and stakeholders to collaborate with us as we continue to transform agriculture and secure a future where no one is left behind in the fight against hunger. #WorldFoodDay #FoodSecurity #SustainableDevelopment
