From before they are born through their earliest years, babies and toddlers are developing neural connections at an extraordinary rate. These connections form the foundation for lifelong success. How are these neural connections created and strengthened? Through interactions with attentive caregivers who provide nurturing and responsive care: serve and return. Serve and return involves responsive interactions between babies and their caregivers. These interactions are crucial for helping children grow and reach their full potential. This National Parent's Day, we would like to celebrate you—the parents who create secure attachments that help shape the trajectory of a child's life.

Well said. Ages 0-3 are imperative for building secure attachment that lasts a lifetime. Acknowledging all caregivers who play a role in this process!

This isn't new information although any opportunity to shout it out is important. We have studies, empirical data, longitudinal case studies and more to validate the fact that quality early experiences matter- BUT when will we, as a society, take action to change outcomes? Instead of trying to fix what went wrong with a teen dropping out of school and feeling there's no purpose in life, let's get early childhood right!
