It is so easy to get caught up in the chaos inside our heads. I don’t know about you, but I have thoughts upon thoughts upon thoughts from the second I wake until I finally fall asleep at night. My thoughts are great at keeping me going from one thing to the next. They are also really good at distracting me, making me forget what I was doing, and sending me spiraling. Meditation is one way of clearing your mind of unintentional thoughts. Any flow state can provide this silence. Creating art, gardening, listening to music, going for a walk, just being are all flow states where silence can enter. In this space, it is much easier to know and feel answers and receive guidance. Do you connect with the energy of a space? I have always believed that the physical space is very important in the spiritual or inner transformational work, because: The physical space has to meet our basic needs of shelter, safety, and food. So, if the space is good, we do not worry or else it keeps nagging us and we get distracted from the real work. The space also provides us with a sense of belonging, are we really invited there? Every space has energy that can either help us in your practice (accelerating your inner work) or pull you down (making you feel you are going against the tide). Even as a kid I used to instinctively connect to the energy of a space but didnt know much then. Now I do not stay in a place if the energy is not conducive to my energy or needs. I personally visit every space before selecting it for any retreat or workshop. A caring, nurturing and loving space makes our work easier. The Kolavara Heritage Homestay offers a very caring and nurturing space. I was very happy to see the cozy, clean and beautiful rooms, extremely clean bathrooms with traditional buckets, and the wooden structure adds to the warmth. As you can see, I simply loved the place, I could stay there for a long time! I have been a long standing fan of the 20 minute walk. Whether in an urban area or a forest, the benefits are far greater then we realize. It is one of the reasons I have a dog. Basic fact, dogs needs 3 to 4 walks a day. Basic fact, it doesn’t matter if it rains or the sun shines. You have to go. It gets even better when you can go for a longer period of time in a nearby forest.
