We recently attended the Zukunftswerkstatt Summit, organized by the Lufthansa Group in Lufthansa Seeheim. The event showcased how innovation is driving transformation in ground operations, with a spotlight on the role of digitalization, AI, and robotics in shaping the future. The summit brought together professionals from various airports, vendors, and researchers, fostering an environment of collaboration and knowledge exchange. Among many interesting talks, one of the standout moments was a discussion on how KWS Group leveraged cutting-edge technology to significantly improve and accelerate seed research and development, a fascinating example of innovation beyond aviation! Our colleagues Christian Ritter and Fabian Vogel presented our Seer®️ solution, an AI-powered airport intelligence suit designed to revolutionize airport turnaround process. Through engaging discussions with ground operations experts, we gathered invaluable feedback and gained insights into the challenges they face. A big thank you to everyone we connected with for the conversations. We’re excited by the positive response and look forward to exploring future collaborations! #Innovation #Aviation #GroundOperations #Digitalization #zeroG #LifeatzeroG

HALFSPACE REDEFINES ONE OF THE WORLD'S LARGEST TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRIES WITH AI - and wins the prestigious Edelman Award. The last few days have been some of the most intense and rewarding in our company’s journey. In July 2023, Halfspace embarked on a challenge to compete for the prestigious INFORMS Edelman Award. Over the past nine months, our team has dedicated itself to excellence, leading up to a rigorous two-day final at the INFORMS Analytics Conference in Orlando. We entered the competition confident in the strength of our case and the quality of our materials, knowing well that we were up against formidable opponents. The competition was fierce, with outstanding presentations from all, including ALDI SÜD, American Airlines, McDonald's China, Tata Steel, and Transvision B.V. We have immense respect for the effort and innovation shown by all teams. Following hours of deliberation by the jury, we were honored to receive the 2024 INFORMS Edelman Award. This is a landmark victory – the first for a Danish team, the first for a company of our size, and perhaps the first for a team considered an outsider in this competition. This achievement is a significant milestone for Halfspace, in partnership with Molslinjen A/S, placing Halfspace at the forefront of global artificial intelligence, excellence and impact. We are incredibly proud of our team and grateful for the support from our community. This victory will undoubtedly inspire a new perspective on the capabilities of AI. The passenger ferry industry carries Between 4 and 5 billions passengers per year (similar to the airline industry) and Nearly 400 mill. vehicles (cars, buses, etc.). We are proud to take part in rethinking this entire industry. #INFORMSEdelmanaward #analytics #datascience #artificialintelligence #teamwork #innovation

In her recent talk, “Past Insights, Future Flights: Decoding aviation’s future through 10 years of Strategic Intelligence”, our Senior Research & Intelligence Analyst Anna Schneider explored where aviation is heading. 🔥 This year marks the 10th anniversary of our mission to lead the future of travel and aviation. We’re celebrating 10 years of InTENtional Innovation and dedicate our 10th year to sharing our learnings, beliefs, and expertise, deep-diving into the past, present and future. Our Strategic Intelligence team systematically analyzes and explores the developments in the global travel and mobility tech ecosystem. They sense early market signals, detect trends and translate them into true industry thought leadership. 🧠 Following this mission, Anna Schneider delved deeper into the heyday of VC funding in travel, highlighted the impact of the pandemic on investments, and concluded what this rollercoaster ride means for the future of aviation. These are our top 3 takeaways: 💡 Operational efficiency leads: The pandemic highlighted operational bottlenecks in aviation, and even as travel recovered in 2023, passenger sentiment towards air travel is still way below pre-pandemic levels. Consequently, operational efficiency remains a dominant focus for investments, with automation being critical across the aircraft value chain due to tight margins and high costs from disruptions. 💡 Sustainability is on the rise: Sustainability has become a strategic priority for aviation corporations. The debate began in 2019, and by 2021, airlines had started mentioning sustainability more regularly as part of their Earnings Calls. In 2023, a large portion of investments by aviation corporates were dedicated to sustainability. In light of social and regulatory pressures to decarbonize aviation, this trend will only continue to grow. 💡 AI investment is more than just a hype: AI has been a key investment trend in aviation, with applications in autonomous driving, robotics and drones, predictive analytics, and customer support. GenAI is also gaining traction but remains a niche area - for now. If you want to learn more about investments in aviation, we highly recommend our annual flagship report, The Sector Attractiveness Report 2024. You can find the link in the comments. 👀 In your opinion, what are the most important developments ahead in aviation? #Research #Aviation #LIH10 #InTENtionalInnovation
