Contrary to popular belief, not all electric cars use the same battery cooling system. The two most common systems are air and liquid, each with advantages and limitations. Air cooling, more straightforward and less expensive, uses airflow to dissipate heat. However, it’s less efficient, especially in extreme climates or during high-demand scenarios like fast charging. Alternatively, liquid cooling employs a coolant fluid to manage the battery’s temperature. These systems are more complex but offer superior heat dissipation, making them increasingly popular in modern EVs. Charging an electric vehicle is exactly equivalent to plugging in your phone at night before you go to bed. It is not the same as driving to a gas station and pumping in noxious fuels that are stored in tanks below ground for public safety. The beauty of electric vehicles is that you can charge them anywhere. All you need is that socket or that port to be able to plug into. So once people start to understand this, they'll have less reservations around, ‘how am I going to charge my vehicle?’ We'll understand that it's actually much easier. It's much more convenient than it was before – and that's truly what you need when you're looking for behavior change. #electricvehicles #zeroemissions

As a follow up to my last EV charging post, here is a nice comparison of average EV charging vs gas for 1250 miles/month of travel. Loads of variables, but on average, EV's runs about 1/3 the average ICE based fueling costs or about $1400/year (~$120/month) Interesting data. #EV #fastcharging #ice

The writer constrained the analysis to show EV cheaper than ICE from an energy standpoint. This is misleading however, as there are far more mitigating factors that make EV ownership questionable, if not outright more expensive, beginning with EV depreciation. Maintenance and repairs are higher, as is insurance. Reasons for the decline in EV demand: ------------------------------------- The market had reached a point where automakers and policymakers can no longer rely solely on early adopters Concerns about the distance an EV can travel on a single charge EVs take longer to charge compared to refueling gasoline vehicles Power outage and grid concerns: Worries about infrastructure and reliability Lack of service nearby for repairs and maintenance EVs don’t perform well in very hot or cold conditions ~r
