As someone passionate about HR, I am closely following the recent discussions around the proposed "Right to Switch Off" policy being introduced. This policy has the potential to reshape how we approach work-life balance, empowering employees to truly disconnect outside of working hours. In today’s hyper-connected world, the boundaries between work and personal life have become increasingly blurred. While technology has given us incredible flexibility, it has also led to the expectation of being "always on." The proposed Right to Switch Off policy is a significant step towards addressing this challenge by acknowledging the importance of personal time, mental well-being, and the need for clear boundaries. For employers, this policy could lead to a more engaged, productive, and satisfied workforce. Employees who feel supported in balancing their work and personal lives are more likely to bring their best selves to work. It’s also a great opportunity for organisations to re-evaluate their culture, ensuring that it promotes both productivity and well-being. For HR professionals, it’s essential to stay ahead of these developments and begin thinking about how we can support businesses in adapting to this potential change. Whether it’s through revising policies, providing training, or fostering open dialogue, we have a crucial role in making this transition smooth and effective. I’m looking forward to seeing how this unfolds. Let’s work together to create workplaces where everyone can thrive, both on and off the clock. #RightToSwitchOff #WorkLifeBalance #HRConsultant #EmployeeWellbeing #HRPolicy #LabourUK

Getting "more from more" doesn't necessarily mean adding stuff - more tools, more systems, more processes, more policies, more plans, more layers of hierarchy etc. Subtraction can play a part in shaping an environment of belonging, growth and enabling peak performance. Removing the barriers, blockers and constraints. Flow follows focus, and focus is the enemy of distraction. The ability to recover, reset and go again is also key to sustaining peak levels of performance, and maybe our always on, hustle attitude just doesn't wash anymore. Burnout is real, and it's dangerous. For some organisations, the evidence showing the positive effects from shifting to a 4 day work week is growing. Whilst it's not for every team, it's certainly worth exploring. #peakperformancedevelopment #roguecoaching #belonging #dynamicadaptability
