Today, while driving my kids to school, this question crossed my mind, prompting me to ponder: Are manufacturers not innovating in the school bus industry, unlike the groundbreaking changes we see in the likes of Tesla and other automotive giants? Caught in the web of fast thinking and quick judgments, I arrived home and decided to hit the brakes on my thoughts. Upon delving into the data, I discovered that the design of school buses is deeply rooted in safety, functionality, tradition, and regulatory compliance. A powerful reminder of our dual-brain system—fast vs. slow thinking. Our brains make thousands of daily decisions, often influenced by mental shortcuts and biases. It's essential to challenge these initial judgments, slow down, and ask critical questions. "What makes my assumption true? Am I using my fast or slow thinking process?"
