Thread #2: My previous post wasn’t about the specific topic of the VT and NDE requirements and technical details… ✋ Post was about the companies that they are trying to hire local inspectors with all certifications, I.e AWS/CSWIPS plus VT, PT, MT, RT and so on. Do you know that not all companies are providing trainings to get that courses? Despite NDEs, international courses are very expensive though 1,5mln tenge! And valid only for 3 years (AWS with further renewal). And my anxious was that companies are ready to pay only 1mln tenge per shift 28/28 gross! Means very few! And that poor inspector will cover all inspections but for tiny salary 🤏 However, they keep demanding for work experience 10-15 years as welding inspector 😃… Furthermore, some people decided that I am confusing people with “misunderstood” post and provided in-depth analysis “as it is supposed to” 🫴🏻 Concluding my thread #2, companies should be ready to pay at least a fair price/salary for the multitasking inspector! If you want to get the “right” inspector, be ready to give a valuable price 💰🛢️🛫

🔧 What is a CWI (Certified Welding Inspector)? 🔧 A Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) plays a critical role in the construction and manufacturing industries, ensuring the quality and safety of welding work. CWIs are trained and certified professionals who inspect welds, review project specifications, and verify that the welding process meets required codes and standards. Here’s what a CWI does: Inspect Welds: CWIs visually examine welds for any defects, such as cracks, porosity, or undercutting, that could compromise the strength and integrity of a structure. Review Documentation: They review welding procedures, blueprints, and project specifications to ensure everything aligns with applicable codes, like those from the American Welding Society (AWS). Ensure Compliance: CWIs ensure welders use suitable materials, techniques, and safety practices. They ensure compliance with industry standards for everything from buildings and bridges to pipelines and pressure vessels. Testing and Certification: CWIs may also conduct tests like radiographic or ultrasonic testing to assess the quality of welds. They are responsible for certifying that welding work meets safety and quality standards. Why is a CWI important? Poor welding can lead to structural failures, which can be dangerous and costly. A CWI on-site ensures welding is done correctly, safely, and according to industry standards. Here is a link from AWS on how to become a certified welding Inspector! https://lnkd.in/g4JXZV_j #WeldingInspector #CWI #WeldingSafety #QualityControl #ConstructionSafety #WeldingIndustry #KSQS

Disclaimer: I did not write this. Just passing this along because I think it's relevant. As an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), integrity is a fundamental aspect of your professional role. Let’s delve into what it means to uphold integrity in the context of being a CWI: Certification Significance: The AWS Certified Welding Inspector credential is highly regarded and sought after in the welding industry. It signifies that you possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform your duties effectively. CWIs play a critical role in ensuring weldments meet acceptance criteria, handling qualification records, overseeing non-destructive testing, and ensuring proper materials during testing. What Integrity Entails: Strict Adherence: Integrity involves adhering strictly to a code of moral values, artistic principles, or other standards. It means maintaining honesty and sincerity in all professional matters. Attention to Detail: CWIs must pay meticulous attention to detail. They act as safety nets, catching potentially catastrophic mistakes. Familiarity with welding processes, procedures, materials, and testing limitations is crucial. Ethical Decision-Making: CWIs should consistently act with integrity, make decisions based on ethical principles, and communicate clearly. Upholding ethical standards is essential, even when faced with pressure to compromise. Certification Process: To achieve CWI certification, candidates must pass three exams: Part A (Fundamentals), Part B (Practical), and Part C (Code Book). These exams assess various aspects related to welding, safety, and inspection. Part A covers topics such as destructive testing, metallurgy, non-destructive testing, and understanding welding symbols. Remember, as a CWI, your commitment to integrity contributes to safety, risk reduction, and adherence to industry standards.

Good morning Who is the Welding Inspector? Before turning our discussion to the technical subjects, let us talk about the welding inspector as an individual and the typical responsibilities that accompany the posi-tion. The welding inspector is a responsible person, involved in the determination of weld quality according to applicable codes and/or specifications. In the performance of inspection tasks, welding inspectors operate in many different circumstances, depending primarily for whom they are working. Thus, there is a special need for job specifications due to the complexity of some components and structures.

PSA!!! If you are a pipeline/station inspector you should name your resume when you save it with your name and craft. Example: Jason White CWI-Nace-Utility or whatever your specialty is. Makes your resume easy to search if looking for your specific specialty. Also, when sending your resume, the subject line of your email should always be similar to the following example unless asked for it to be different. Jason White CWI/CPWI, Nace, Safety, etc When someone is recruiting for a project they can easily search you resume via email.
