USPSTF once again gives PrEP a grade A rating and importantly, extends the rating to injectable modalities. How effectively will this change the insurance landscape and ensure carriers cover injectable PrEP? Will be curious to see what implementation looks like, especially with the Braidwood decision's concurrent impact on the insurance-legal landscape for HIV prevention.

My husband and I enjoyed attending One Colorado’s fantastic Prism Awards this past weekend at the Denver Art Museum. One Colorado not only advocates statewide to advance and protect LGBTQ+ rights, but also honors community members and their impactful contributions across our state. Cheers to this year’s recipients and thanks for the great event! ✨🌈💖

Texas' abortion ban has led to staggering increases in maternal mortality rates. This is an important state policy to watch because it was enacted nearly a year before Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court, which means it gives us even more data on the alarming impact of statewide abortion bans. And as always in public health, let us not forget data = real individuals' stories. #healthpolicy #abortion #sexualhealth

Our Policy Team is holding it down at the 2024 STI Prevention Conference in Atlanta! NCSD's Senior Manager of State Policy and Training, Chris, has a poster about our health equality IMPACT tool that assesses state sexual health-related policies and our Director of State Policy, Diana, presented yesterday about the impact of the DIS recission last year. NCSD is proud to be a partner of this year's conference and we have a number of staff presenting, so keep an eye out and come say hi!

The STI Prevention Conference has been a fantastic opportunity to both promote the need for robust funding that sustains the DIS workforce (a presentation delivered brilliantly by Diana Rono) and our health equality IMPACT tool that assesses state sexual health-related policies (IMPACT = Inclusive Metrics for Policy Assessment and Cultural Transformation). 🥳 #stiprevention #publichealth #policy #publichealthpolicy

What I appreciate about this article is how it highlights some of the public health department- and community-led efforts to mobilize and scale up testing.
