In this post, ZMG Ward Howell’s Research and Talent Intelligence team presents an analysis for the banking and finance sector in Metro Manila — covering talent availability and maturity, the top industries where these professionals may be found, and the latest news in the industry. The current talent landscape for banking and finance professionals will be of interest as the country’s big banks are holding an optimistic outlook for the year, with better market prospects and potential for profitability, and decreased interest rates by the third quarter. Similarly, reports from various forecasting agencies have highlighted the Philippines as having the highest forecast for growth among ASEAN nations in 2024, with an average GDP growth of 6%. These positive projections, together with the recent influx of foreign investments and increased consumer spending, look to create better economic prospects for the country overall, which could lead to more jobs and opportunities in the banking and finance sector. In this post, the ZMG Ward Howell Research and Talent Intelligence team discusses the factors that banking professionals in the Philippines appreciate the most and desire the least when choosing an employer. Their perception analysis study reveals that professionals in the banking industry prefer working for companies that offer competitive pay and benefits packages. Aside from that, they value organizations that cultivate a good working culture and initiate modernization efforts to keep employees engaged and business processes efficient. At the same time, heavy workload is a primary and consistent concern amongst employees, especially those who feel that they are being inadequately compensated. In knowing what employees value and seek in an employer, organizations can develop a better understanding of their unique needs. Companies may use this information to enhance their employer branding and craft the appropriate strategies to attract and retain key talent. Previously, the Research and Talent Intelligence Team featured an industry analysis on the banking and finance sector in Metro Manila, tackling the talent landscape and the latest industry news. Today, we continue the series by looking at the behavior of financial analysts as we establish their presence in different industries through a talent movement analysis. As expected, financial analysts are commonly found in the banking and financial services industry. However, there is also a strong presence of these professionals spread across other industries such as food & beverage, retail, E-commerce, and manufacturing. Our findings further suggest that the recent efforts in digitalizing banking services and processes have continuously generated demand for such roles, making them worth tracking over the coming months. Overall, finance-related functions continue to be a necessity for organizations regardless of industry due to their vital role in revenue and operations. According to our latest ZMG Hiring Difficulty Scale®, hiring for financial analysts in Metro Manila can take around a month and a half, which is relatively easier than other finance roles.
