This is a story about the runaway patient (disclaimer: it's me) I hate being sick... (I mean, does anyone love it??) Because I got the big C...and came out the other side (phew), I get super triggered every time my body tells me there's something wrong. Even if it's a sniffle or an achey body part. (Yes, yes I know - I'm working on the trigger) But the truth is.... It's not actually being sick that's the problem. Wanna know what it is? It's finding the solution to the problem - because I know that the solution sometimes lies with an over stretched, under funded, outdated GP service that will make finding and attaining MY solution even harder (and definitely more painful). And to tell one on myself now...it pisses me off. Anyway, this has happened a few times...get sick, join the 7,452,543 people in the hold queue for the GP at 8am - wait for (what feels like) hours... 📞 get an appointment sometime before my next birthday 🔍 sit in waiting room for appointment - 2 hours late 👨⚕️ spend 3 mins with Dr - and then repeat entire experience again at the pharmacy to get antibiotics. BTW no shade on the Drs - they're doing the best they can with a system that doesn't work ♥️ But during that ENTIRE experience - I have to fight the urge to - end the call, walk out of the waiting room or not pick up the prescription - because I hate wasting time. BUT I've found a hack (yep - Matrix style - beating the system) and I want to share it with you- You see, there are a NUMBER of things I realise I can solve if I just playbook my experience of the things I hate and then improve on that playbook to take the suffering out of my experience. So I've made some key improvements to my 'Sick System' (patent pending) including: 📱Booking my appointment on the GPs app - no more kitchen disco to their crap hold music for me! 💻 I can WORK from the GP because they all offer WiFi! So taking in my laptop and visualising the GPs waiting room as my new hot desk space - game changer (and it's 🆓 - no need to buy a pot of tea and nurse it for 2 hours) 📞 I set up txt notifications to let me know when my prescription is ready. But here's the GOLD 💫 This 'Sick System' works in business too.... Because when you playbook your processes and then review all the parts of it that p*ss you off - you can hack, improve and upgrade it to ease YOUR suffering and generate more business! *Bonus point - you can automate 90% of this too so you don't have to deal with again (we should talk if this turns you on) ------------------------------------------------- I'm Lauren - a serial entrepreneur and angel investor.
