Love this post from Noah Kagan. Why? It's a reminder that honing your skills and taking multiple swings is what is going to lead to success. Noah rightfully highlights the % of artists, all of which make ten's of millions and are considered to be successful. In baseball, the leader in batting average is Ty Cobb at 36.6%. Since 2000, Barry Bonds at 32.2% In hockey, since 2000, the best shooting ratio is 27.3% by Andrei Kuzmenko. Wayne Gretzky was 17.6%. Point being, if you can chart, bat, score, etc. at a rate of 20-30% you are likely top of your game and you make millions. The question in business, especially around innovation or scaling up, you will be trying a lot of things, some will work, some won't and some will knock it out of the park. Why do we expect 100% in business (on knocking it out of the park) when the best of the best are around 30%? #scaleup #growth #growthmindset

Something that’s helped me detach from perceived failure… Whatever metric you use to measure success, divide it by your total effort. A mental switch to see ROI in “failure”. Example: If I make 100 cold calls, 3 schedule a meeting, and 1 closes at $50,000 acv. If my commission is 10%, each one of those cold calls worth $50. How many cold calls are you going to make now?

He's one of my favorite musicians, and I had him "on repeat" during some of my earlier years of business. I loved the message in the song. • 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲, even if you have to start from the "bottom" again. • 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗰𝗸: take a look at the past for motivation. Remember where you started, remember the successes, the challenges you overcame, and take the lessons from the "failures." • 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸: even if the outcomes are not what you wanted or expected, don't get lost in feelings of disappointment or failure. And the most important message: 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲. For those who don't know, Chance rocked the music industry with his unorthodox approach. All, if not most, of his music was free. I remember the controversy that stirred when he won a Grammy without selling a single physical copy of his music. He leveraged streaming platforms, kept ownership of all his music, steered clear of major record deals, and made most of his revenue from tours, merchandise, and endorsements. From ~2013-2019, he skyrocketed... and then he took a break. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. Things change. Struggle and wrestle with it, or roll and flow with it—or do it all—but just keep moving, even when the path is unclear. In the pursuit of realizing an idea or a goal, there will be challenges. And some of the keys to overcoming them are simple: persistence and perseverance. Another key: take a nice break in between to take care of other things, to get some perspective, reorient yourself, and to recharge. Then, come back.
