Placing world-class Chiefs of Staff for the C-suite

Founders: what would you do if someone pitched you on a free 30-day trial to work for you? 🤯 That's what Lindsay Goldman, Chief of Staff at Rupa Health did when she was looking to become Erik Torenberg's CoS. Here's what her crazy initiative showed ⤵ 🎰 An understanding that betting on someone without experience or credibility in tech is a risk that needed to be balanced, hence the 30-day free trial 🏆 Extreme levels of confidence that this founder would want to hire her after the trial period ❗ Pragmatic realism about it being hard to stand out as a generalist for one of the hottest roles in tech (check out the email below -- it definitely stands out) 🏀 That she's the all-in, guns blazing, shoot-your-shot type, and who wouldn't want that person on their team? Result: she interviewed with Erik but ultimately ended up as Chief of Staff to Todd Jackson at First Round. Pretty incredible outcome :) #chiefofstaff #recruiting

It only works if you're on the fence about the candidate.

That's an innovative approach. While there are "probation" periods for a lot of roles that, the CoS role and maybe some sales roles would work well for a 30-day trial.

Logistically curious how this works. There are still rules around unpaid employees. Would this be considered an internship? Are their hour limitations? Would it differ by state law?
