This article aligns closely with ideas from Victor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning, emphasizing that personal meaning and self-actualization arise from aligning with intrinsic values rather than external validation or societal expectations. Individuals can thrive without relying on external affirmation by nurturing self-awareness, focusing on what truly matters, and building resilience through connections and self-compassion.

What does "human-centred work" mean to you? This very question is what got Louisa Jewell, MAPP and I started on organizing a very special summit called "Human Centred Work Summit" on January 23, 2025. We think it would be awesome to gather in-person and keep them small so we can actually talk to one another. And this will mark the beginning of our new collective, perhaps even a movement, toward making making work work for us. Then we thought... who do we want to ask this question to? And we listed our respected teachers, mentors, and colleagues that we want to interview. Here's the one I want to start with. I asked my dear mentor Kenneth Gergen at The Taos Institute, and his simple answer to how we can humanize the workplace. I'll share snippets of these interviews each day so we can engage you in this very important conversation. "I am dehumanized when the vast potential of all the things I have become is cut away." Mind blown. Here are all the details and links to sign up: https://lnkd.in/eZBmvabM Are you coming? #humancentredwork #summit #humanityatwork #conversations

In my class, reading "How Great Companies Think Differently" by Rosabeth Moss Kanter, I came across a powerful insight. Emotions play a crucial role in corporate performance, beyond utilitarian rationality. Moods are contagious, affecting absenteeism, health, effort, and energy levels. Through my research on teams and organizations, I found that individuals can significantly impact each other's performance levels. To explore this concept further, check out the book "Confidence" (Crown, 2004).
