**Colombian Water Light: A Sustainable Solution for Off-Grid Communities** WaterLight is a portable lantern that can be charged with salt water or urine. It is a sustainable solution for off-grid communities that do not have access to electricity. WaterLight was developed by E-Dina, a Colombian renewable energy start-up. It is designed to be a more reliable alternative to solar lamps, which are often used to supply remote locations but which are weather-dependent. WaterLight works by ionizing an electrolyte made up of saltwater, which transforms the magnesium on the inside into electrical energy. It can be used to light up a room for up to 45 days on a single charge. It can also be used to charge small electronic devices, such as mobile phones. WaterLight is a relatively inexpensive device to produce, making it accessible to even the poorest communities. It is also very durable and can withstand harsh weather conditions. WaterLight is already being used by communities in Colombia and other countries around the world. It has helped to improve the lives of people who live in remote areas without access to electricity.
