Before installing a metal edge system, confirm the nailer or other substrate is capable of resisting the wind loads. We discovered a 2x6 cantilevered from a 2x4, which was cantilevered from a bottom 2x6. The nailers were secured with smooth nails with random spacing. Wall cladding systems have increased in width to accommodate continuous insulation, drainage mats, etc. Some designs have an EIFS cornice at the top of the wall 12 inches wide or more. the nailers must be designed and installed to resist the moment created by this cantilever. The nailers were replaced and secured to the steel deck to comply with FM 1-49. Consider using engineered wood (LVL, LSL) for large copings or edges. https://lnkd.in/e5zdVhAP

𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 📐 Did you know that Longboard products come in 24ft lengths? One of the primary conveniences of using longer planks is the time saved during installation. Traditional siding typically comes in shorter sections, which means more joints and seams to deal with. These seams require careful alignment, extra cutting, and additional fasteners, all of which can extend the installation process. When you use a longer plank, you get more material on the wall in the same amount of time. Longboard planks can also be installed to a max of 40ft if installed with butt joints! In this instance you would use our Traditional Flat Reveal Set or U-Reveal Set to accommodate expansion. #manufacturing #construction #architecture
