Use Signals: Activate your turn signal well in advance to indicate your intention to merge onto the freeway. Adjust Speed: Match your speed with the traffic already on the freeway. Today's Learner and Lifter/Sturdy and Nerdy post came mid-bootcamp. The theme is consistency and patterns and the QOTW is, "What are you doing right now to make sure you stay on top of your goals for this week, month and even year?" Whether it's spaced repetition in the learning space, a journal on your bed side, or a video diary to yourself at the end of each week (super extra but people do it) there's always a space for personal accountability. So what am I doing to stay accountable? ✅Allowing technology to keep me up-to-speed on my daily tasks and to-dos. I use Obsidian as my global task/note keeper and then subscribe to the little bumps from Duolingo, MyFitnessPal and Peloton to keep me up on my learning and healthy habits. ✅Checking in with teammates on a daily basis and seeing how their goals are going. Team accountability is such a huge inspiration for personal goals. ✅Giving my space room to fail, grow and everything in-between. I am not in the belief space that every day should be reserved for 100% (or at least not anymore). Sometimes you have to stop and smell the roses, or just take a minute to say "What the f*** just happened?!" Reflections of w/c 12.02.24 Lots to reflect on during this half term break. Too much for 3000 characters. 💡Connections With one child off school and the other taking a break from home ed, it was nice to spend some quality time with my wife and children. A trip to Bletchley Park, The National Space Centre and a few days away in Bath gave some good time to recharge the batteries. My "what if" questions from the last two weeks have generated some new connections and opportunities for further conversations. I really appreciate the engagement these posts are getting. Another meeting with Nachelle Crowther (FRSA) this time with Ben Edmonds and Aaron Patching from Inventor Club, provided some real food for thought about a potential big education project. Catching up with William Remes and Dene Botha from Earniversity to dig deeper into their plans is building some additional excitement for this next half term. 💡Crack the code of communication The trip to Bletchley Park was brilliant. A site of such great importance in world war 2,where a team of people worked together under strict secrecy laws to interpret and crack enemy communications. In doing so, they are said to have shortened the war by two to four years! The visit really got me thinking about communication and how we are so well connected now and yet I wonder if we are less effective at communicating. Now it feels like we need a code breaking mindset to keep on top of WhatsApp's, LinkedIn messages, slack channels, emails........... to try and make sense of the different comms that come at us each day. 💡”You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. Your goal is your desired outcome. Your system is the collection of daily habits that will get you there." James Clear It's F1 season launch time and every year for me this is exciting. As a lifelong motor racing fan, I Iove seeing the launch of the new cars for the season. It wasn’t unusual for me to take day off of school and spend a day at Silverstone with my dad as they shook the new cars down for the first time. The culmination of 1000's of hours of work across teams of people with a vast array of skills and daily habits to bring a new car to the grid in the hope of winning the drivers and constructors championship, over 24 race weekends, across the globe. Whilst drivers get a lot of exposure, F1 is very much a team sport and a great reminder that the performance we see on a Sunday afternoon is not luck. It is hours of preparation, honing, design tweaking, testing, failing and analysing at the factories that leads to creation of a great racing car for the drivers to push to the limit. We so often judge the performance but the processes, preparation and systems that we don't see are what truly creates the successful outcome and the winning of championships. Over and out!

What I learn from 7 Power Zones each day (How you leverage your body-mind connection) Peloton Power Zones are output ranges - a measurement of how hard you’re working at any given point during a ride. It is based on Functional Threshold Power (FTP) - the level of exercise I can sustain for maximum one hour. Power Zone training taught me how to manage my energy levels for peak performance. Zone 1 (Recovery) Reminds me to take breaks and ease  into intense sessions with focused preparation. Zone 2 (Flow) My ideal zone for problem-solving and deep learning. Zone 3 - (Challenge) Stimulates creativity and helps me push past perceived limits. Zone 4 (Intense Focus) Great for tackling difficult tasks – helps me power through mental blocks. Zone 5 - (Out of Comfort Zone) Teaches me to stay calm under pressure and focus on the task at hand. Not much thinking, just focus on my body. Provides peace of mind and stops the heave cognitive load. Zone 6 (Pushing Limits)  Builds resilience and reminds me of my untapped potential. No thinking, just pushing through. Zone 7 (Max Effort)  A burst of adrenaline that reinforces my willpower. Really great to grow confidence and discover how much I can tap into. I love how Power Zone training pushes me mentally and physically.
