Congratulations PAE, it was so cool to tour this building with the brilliant engineer Karina Bonin, PE, WELL AP. One thing i found so encouraging was how many of the tenants of designing a #livingbuilding, align with best practices for building a #neuroinclusive work environment. Here are a few of the highlights that i noted: - Passive/radiant heating & cooling that reduces need for heavy airflow systems within the building (commercial HVAC systems are a significant contributor to sensory overwhelm in office spaces.) - Maximizing natural lighting and avoiding fluorescent light in the facility. - Sound baffling technology in all the open spaces to minimize harsh acoustics. - Multiple climates (temperature) intentionally designed in different working areas to allow individuals the choice to work in a climate that best suits them. Another interesting fact, many of these tenants are also used in trauma informed design. Its amazing and perhaps not unexpected that no matter what lens you are looking through, building wellness into a physical environment has shared themes and practices that help to benefit everyone!

🌟 A big thank you to Ryan David Ewell for organizing an outstanding panel discussion on sustainable building envelopes and the evolving criteria cities are implementing to align with local laws, energy codes, and building codes. The insights shared were truly invaluable! We were privileged to hear from a stellar lineup of experts: 🔹 Todd Frederick from FreMarq Innovations, who shared his expertise on upgrading windows and consulting with building owners to achieve energy-efficient solutions. 🔹 John Myers from Gilbane Building Company, who brought his vast experience as a GC in the New England region, working on highly complex and innovative projects. 🔹 Paul Ormond, who helped shape Boston’s building codes and offered a unique perspective from the City of Boston’s regulatory side. 🔹 Andrew Steingiser, a global leader in Passive House consulting, who provided regional and international expertise in sustainable building practices. The conversation around sustainable building envelopes is pivotal as we push for more resilient and energy-efficient structures. It was inspiring to witness such leadership and collaboration among industry leaders!
