Recently, I had the privilege of speaking with Roger Gilbert on the role of environmentally sustainable fumigation in the Milling and Grain sector and some of the emerging challenges and trends regarding ESG compliance which legacy fumigants will struggle with over the coming years. These challenges will be particularly felt by multi-national and publicly listed food manufacturing companies which have an overarching social responsibility to push for environmentally sustainable alternatives in order to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and avoid greenwashing. Within the current innovation cycle, and ever tightening regulatory frameworks, it is time for a change to effective and sustainable alternatives. We cannot underestimate the importance of the Milling and Grain Handling industry advocating for these key sustainable solutions to the issues impacting this vital industry.
