Previously known as the 'Elipse Balloon', the Allurion Balloon is a gastric balloon in capsule form, which is swallowed under the guidance of healthcare professionals without surgery, anaesthesia or endoscopy*.
The Allurion Balloon is checked via x-ray to ensure it's in the right place, and is then inflated in the stomach. The entire placement takes approximately 15 minutes with an outpatient visit, with ongoing support via the Allurion Virtual Care Suite (Allurion Connected Scale, user's own smartwatch, and Allurion App), the healthcare professional and a nutritionist.
The Allurion Balloon is safe, non-permanent, recommended by doctors, and can help to kickstart an average loss of 10-15% of total body weight in just 16 weeks alongside our fully supported 6-month lifestyle program.
After approximately 16 weeks, the Allurion Balloon self-empties and leaves the body naturally.

As shown in this 3D example, the Allurion Balloon is swallowed in capsule form, before being checked via x-ray that it is in the correct place in the stomach. Once the x-ray has confirmed correct placement, the Allurion Balloon is inflated within the stomach with saline, and helps to reduce your food intake by taking up space in your stomach, helping to increase satiety and reduce hunger and cravings.
