1...2...3... HIRE!

1...2...3... HIRE!

Trust me I am Talent Acquisition Specialist, not a magician. But, yes I can understand your confusion.

The time was just 'right' for everyone. Except me. I had been summoned by His Supremacy to his Chamber. I wonder what is it now? He was smiling. Dubious! I shouldn't fall for it, I thought. As suspected, he raised that appalling Magic Wand and uttered those dreadful words yet again...1...2...3...HIRE! I rolled my eyes for the zillionth time and walked out of the Chamber with a frozen, plastic smile on my face.

Almost immediately, I put on the superhero cape, raised my closed fist upwards and was just about to take that leap when a stark realization hit me like a truck. Aha! we're not there yet. The groundwork hasn't been done. Where's the job description? How many are to be hired? Recruitment strategy.

In the coming days, I dunk straight into a series of mundane quests: SCREEN. INTERVIEW. REPEAT. And then one day, after all that ordeal you meet 'the one'. No! No! we're not there yet. He just decided he could do something better in life. Psst! Psst! SCREEN. INTERVIEW. REPEAT. Till I meet 'the one' again. I am excited now. Grrr.... this time my competitors have taken the cake from me. Such a jerk! Cycle rerun. By now, the routine has been impeccably polished to perfection! However, this time, I'm skeptical. I look at the person in front of me with a raised brow. Will he take it? I toss the bone to him and I watch him closely. Until... he utters those magical words... YES! I do. (I am smiling now. Say it again for the 1000th time!) CANDIDATE IN THE BAG! GAME OVER!

Indisputably, my counterparts (Wherever you are!) can relate to most of these scenarios. The efforts we need to put in to find the needle in the haystack definitely inspires every last one of us to bang our heads on the wall on certain days. Every day is a challenge (especially when you have to deal with certain bad eggs in the basket!) and that's exactly why this bumpy ride has an adrenaline surge to it! It is never always a bed of roses, but it is surely worth all the efforts. How does it feel when you suddenly become a one-stop solution to job-seeking problems for our acquaintances? We for sure make people's lives better, don't we?
