5️⃣ Marketing Lessons from Taylor Swift

The Eras Tour has Swifties (Taylor Swift fans) across the world wanting more. Neither the exorbitant ticket prices nor the flight strike chaos couldn’t dent her sellout Arenas.

The hype and demand for Taylor Swift’s music and storytelling got me thinking about the lessons we could take from this generation’s pop diva.

1️⃣ Her songs are essentially relatable stories that her fans are emotionally connected to.

LESSON: RELATABLE is the secret sauce for social media success.

2️⃣ Taylor is transparent about the business of her music and in fact wasn’t afraid to take on the streaming and social media platforms to protect her IP.

LESSON: Transparency trumps media critique.

3️⃣ She is accessible on social media so that relationship is maintained in between live tours and album launches.

LESSON: Consistency trumps momentary virality.

4️⃣ You could argue that Swifities are her biggest marketing engine.

LESSON:  Never underestimate the power of employee and follower advocacy.

5️⃣ Rise above the hate. There’s no doubt that Taylor’s global success has with it brought online hate, misinformation and increased security requirements. We’ve seen this mirrored in recent elections for politicians and heads of state as hate spirals online.

LESSON: We must not let the loud minority rule while we ignore the silent majority seeking leadership and truth. Protect your truth with your presence online.

Disclaimer: I wouldn’t consider myself a Swiftie but I’m a huge fan of Taylor’s writing (lyrics). I’ve got my own songwriting ambitions, did you know? 😀

So what about you? Anything you’d add here?
