We had some inquiries asking about which Airlines is currently rated as 5 Star and 4 Star.

Skytrax World Airline Rating, is known as the ONLY global airline quality rating program. It classifies airlines by the Quality of front-line product and staff service standards.

In this post, you will get the information on which Airline is currently rated as 5 Star or 4 Star.

 

5-Star Airlines

 

5-Star Airline is awarded to airlines achieving the highest, overall Quality performance which includes high standards of Airport, On-board Product, Staff Service across the Airport and Cabin service environments.

 

1. ANA All Nippon Airways

 

All Nippon Airways, also known as ANA, is a Japanese Airlines. It operates services to 49 destinations in Japan and 32 international routes. In addition to its mainline operations, ANA controls several subsidiary passenger carriers. The Airlines became a member of Star Alliance.

2. Asiana Airlines


 

Asiana Airlines is one of South Korea's two major airlines, along with Korean Air. As a member of Star Alliance, it operates 14 domestic and 90 international passenger routes, and 27 cargo routes throughout Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. Asiana Airlines is the largest shareholder in Air Busan, a low-cost regional carrier and also currently an official sponsor of the South Korea national football team.

3. Cathay Pacific Airways

 

Cathay Pacific Airways is the largest airline of Hong Kong. The airline's operations include scheduled passenger and cargo services to 200 destinations in 52 countries. It is a founding member of the Oneworld alliance. Cathay Pacific as won "World's Best Airline" award 4 times, more than any other airline.

4. Garuda Indonesia

 

Garuda Indonesia is the flag carrier of Indonesia. The airlines is now one of the world's leading airlines and the 20th member of the global airline alliance SkyTeam. It opoerates regularly scheduled flights to a large number of destinations in Southeast Asia, East Asia, Australia and Europe.

5. Hainan Airlines

 

Hainan Airlines is an airlines of China. It is the largest privately owned air transport company and the 4th largest airline in terms of fleet size in the People's Republic of China. It operates scheduled domestic and international services on 500 routes from Hainan and 9 locations of the mainland, as well as charter services.

6. Qatar Airways

 

Qatar Airways is the state-owned flag carrier of Qatar. It links over 140 international destinations across Africa, Central Asia, Europe, Far East, South Asia, Middle East, North America, South America and Oceania from its base using a fleet or more than 100 aircraft.The carrier has been a member of the Oneworld alliance since 2013.

7. Singapore Airlines

 

Singapore airlines is the flag carrier of Singapore which operates from its hub and has a strong presence in the Southeast Asia, East Asia, South Asia, and Oceania. It operates many airline related subsidiaries, such as aircraft handling and engineering. It ranks the top 15 carries worldwide in terms of revenue passenger kilometers.

 

4-Star Airlines

The 4-Star Airline Rating is awarded to airlines delivering a good overall Quality performance. The Airlines rated as 4-Star provides a good Product standard across different travel categories, combined with delivering good standards of Staff Service for both Cabin and their home-base Airport environments.

 

 

1. Air Astana

 

Air Astana is the principle airline and the flag carrier of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It operates scheduled domestic and international services on 64 routes from its main hub. 

2. Air Canada

 

Air Canada is the flag carrier and largest airline of Canada. It provides scheduled and charter air transport for passengers and cargo to 178 destinations worldwide. It is the world's 9th largest passenger airline by fleet size, and the airline is a founding member of the Star Alliance.

3. Air Dolomiti

 

Air Dolomiti is an Italian regional airline. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lufthansa. Air Dolomiti operates a network of routes from several Italian destinations to and from Munich. 

4. Air France

 

Air France is the French flag carrier. It is a subsidiary of the Air France-KLM Group and a founding member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance. It serves 36 destinations in France and operates worldwide scheduled passenger and cargo services to 168 destinations in 93 countries.

5. Air Mauritius

 

Air Mauritius is the flag carrier airline of Mauritius. The company is the 4th largest carrier in Sub-Saharan Africa, and has an important standing in the European, African and Indian Ocean region markets; the airline won the "2011 Indian Ocean Leading Airline Prize", making it the 7th year in a row for it to win the award.

6. Air New Zealand

 

Air New Zealand is the national airline and flag carrier of New Zealand. It operates scheduled passenger flights to 25 domestic and 26 international destinations in 15 countries across Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania. The airline has been a member of the Star Alliance since 1999.

7. Air Seychelles

 

Air Seychelles is the national airline of The Seychelles. It operates inter-island services and international flights. The airlines is currently 40% owned by Etihad Airways. Air Seychelles majorly flies to Abu Dhabi, Antananarivo, Dar es Salaam, Johannesburg, Hong Kong, Mauritius, Mumbai and Paris. Other destinations all over the world is gradually added with the increase to total fleets.

8. Austrian Airlines

 

Australian Airlines, sometimes shortened to Austrian, is the flag carrier of Austria and a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group. The company operates scheduled services to over 130 destinations worldwide and is a member of the Star Alliance. 

9. Azerbaijan Airlines

 

Azerbaijan Airlines, also known as AZAL, is the flag carrier of Azerbaijan, as well as the largest airline. It operates a fleet of 30 aircraft to 57 destinations across Asia, the CIS, Europe and the USA. Azerbaijan Airlines is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

10. Bangkok Airways

 

Bangkok Airways is a regional airline based in Bangkok, Thailand. It operates scheduled services to destinations in Thailand, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Laos, Maldives, Burma, India and Singapore. 

11. British Airways

 

British Airways is the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom and its largest airline based on fleet size, international flights and international destinations. When measured by passengers carried it is 2nd largest in Britain, behind EasyJet. It serves over 160 destinations, including 6 domestic. British Airways is a founding member of the Oneworld airline alliance.

12. China Airlines

 

China Airlines is the largest airline in Taiwan and the flag carrier of the Republic of China (Taiwan). It operates over 1,300 flights weekly Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania. The cargo division, on the other hand, operates 91 pure freighter flights weekly to 33 destinations.

13. China Southern Airlines

 

China Southern Airlines is an airline in Guangzhou, People's Republic of China. It is the world's 6th largest airline measure by passenger carried and Asia's largest airline in fleet size and passenger carried. The airline flies to 193 destinations using a fleet of more than 400 aircraft. China Southern Airlines is a member of SkyTeam.

14. DragonAir

 

Dragonair, is an international regional airline in Hong Kong. The airline operates a scheduled passenger network to 44 destination in 13 countries and territories across Asia. Dragonair is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hong Kong's flag carrier, Cathay Pacific, and is an affiliate member of the Oneworld airline alliance.

15. Edelweiss Air

 

Edelweiss Air is a Swiss leisure airline wholly owned by Swiss International Air Lines and the Lufthansa Group. It operates flights to European and intercontinental destinations from its base.

16. Emirates

 

Emirates is an airline based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the largest airline in the Middle East, operating over 3,300 flights per week to more than 144 cities in 78 countries across six continents. Emirates has build up a strong brand name as a leader in the aviation industry, particularly in terms of service excellence, and its very rapid growth. The Airline has won numerous awards.

17. EVA Air

 

EVA Air is a Taiwanese international airline based at Taiwan. It operates passenger and dedicated cargo services to over 40 international destination in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. EVA Air is largely privately owned and flies a fully international route network. It is the 2nd largest Taiwanese airline.

18. Finnair

 

Finnair is the flag carrier and largest airline of Finland. Finnair and its subsidiaries dominate both domestic and international air travel in Finland.  The Airline is a member of The Oneworld airline alliance. It serves 60 European and 13 Asian destinations.

19. Japan Airlines

 

Japan Airlines is the 2nd largest airline in Japan. The operations include scheduled and non-scheduled international and domestic passenger and cargo services to 220 destinations in 35 countries worldwide. Japan Airlines is currently an official sponsor of Japan Football Association, Japan national football team.

20. JetBlue Airways

 

JetBlue Airways is an American low-cost airline. The airline mainly serves destinations in the United States, along with flights to the Caribbean, The Bahamas, Bermuda, Barbados, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru and Puerto Rico. It serves 91 destinations in the U.S., the Caribbean, South American and Latin America.

21. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines

 

KLM is the flag carrier airline of the Netherlands. It operates scheduled passenger and cargo services to more than 130 destinations worldwide. It is the oldest airline in the world still operating under its original name. The merge of KLM with Air France in My 2004 formed Air France-KLM, which is incorporated under French law with its headquarters in Paris. Both Air France and KLM continue to fly under their distinct brand names as subsidiaries of the group and are both part of the SkyTeam alliance.

22. Korean Air

 

Korean Air is the largest airlines in South Korea based on fleet size, international destinations and international flights. Korean Air's international passenger division and related subsidiary cargo division together serve 130 cities in 45 countries, while its domestic division serves 20 destinations. It is among the top 20 airlines in the world in terms of passengers carried and is also the top-ranked international cargo airline. Korean Air is a founding member of SkyTeam.

23. Lufthansa

 

Lufthansa is a German airline and also the largest airline in Europe, both in terms of overall passengers carried and fleet size when combined with its subsidiaries. It operates services to 18 domestic destinations and 197 international destinations in 78 countries across Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe, using a fleet of more than 280 aircraft. The airline is one of the five founding members of the Star Alliance.

24. Oman Air

 

Oman Air is the national airline of Oman. It operates scheduled domestic and international passenger services, as well as regional air taxi and charter flights. It operates a network of 46 destinations in 27 countries. The airline services 11 destinations in India. Oman Air is a member of the Arab Air Carries Organization.

25. Porter Airlines

 

Porter Airlines is a regional airline in Toronto, Canada. Porter operates regularly scheduled flights between Toronto and locations in Canada and the United States. Porter has expanded its operations since 2006, adding more destinations and planes.

26. Qantas Airways

 

Qantas is the flag carrier airline of Australia. The airline is based in Sydney. It is the 3rd oldest in the world, after KLM and Avianca. It is the largest airline by fleet size, international flights and international destinations. Qantas is a founding member of the Oneworld airline alliance.

27. Royal Air Maroc

 

Royal Air Maroc is the Moroccan national carrier, as well as the country's largest airline. RAM is fully owned by the government of Morocco. The carrier operates a domestic network in Morocco, scheduled international flights to Africa, Asia, Europe, North & South America, and occasional charter flights that include Hajj services.

28. Saudi Arabian Airlines

 

Saudia is the flag carrier airline of Saudi Arabia. The name was changed from Saudi Arabia Airlines to Saudia to celebrate the company's entry into the SkyTeam airline alliance. It operates domestic and international scheduled flights to over 120 destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. 

29. SilkAir

 

SilkAir is a regional airline of Singapore. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines and operates scheduled passenger services from Singapore to 44 cities in Southeast Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, China and Australia. As the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, it serves the short-haul destinations in the Singapore Airlines Group network.

30. South African Airways

 

South African Airways is the national flag carrier and largest airline of South Africa. The airline flies to 38 destinations worldwide using a fleet of 54 aircraft. SAA is the official airline of the Association of Tennis Professional. SAA owns Mango, a low-cost domestic airline. It is a member of the Star Alliance.

31. Swiss International Air Lines

 

Swiss International Air Lines is the flag carrier airline of Switzerland operating scheduled services in Europe and to North America, South America, Africa and Asia. Swiss is a member of the Star Alliance. 

32. Thai Airways

 

Thai Airways, trading as THAI, is the flag carrier airline of Thailand. THAI is a founding member of the Star Alliance. It flies to 78 destinations in 35 countries, using a fleet of more than 80 aircraft. THAI's route network is dominated by flights to Europe, East Asia, and South/Southwest Asia, though the airline serves Johannesburg in South Africa and five cities in Oceania.

33. Tianjin Airlines

 

Tianjin Airlines is a regional airline in Tianjin, People's Republic of China. It operates domestic scheduled passenger and cargo flights out of Tianjin Binhai International Airport. Scheduled flights were launched under the brand name Grand China Express Air which was the China's largest regional airline, operating on 78 routes linking 54 cities. On 10 June 2009, the company name was changed to Tianjin Airlines

34. Turkish Airlines

 

Turkish Airlines is the national flag carrier airline of Turkey. It operates scheduled services to 261 destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, making it the 4th largest carrier in the world by number of destinations. With an operational fleet of nine cargo aircraft, the airline's cargo division serves 47 destinations.

35. Virgin America

 

Virgin America is a United States-based airline that began service on August 8, 2007. The airline's stated aim is to provide low-fare, high-quality service for "long-haul point-to-point service between major metropolitan cities on the Eastern and West Coast seaboards. It operates to 28 destinations.

36. Virgin Atlantic

 

Virgin Atlantic is a British airline with its head office in Crawley, West Sussex, England. Virgin Atlantic uses a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing wide-body aircraft and operates to destinations in North America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East and Asia . 

37. Virgin Australia

 

Virgin Australian is Australia's 2nd largest airline as well as the largest by fleet size to used the Virgin brand. The airline has grown to directly serve 29 cities in Australia. It serves 61 destinations including domestic and international flights.

Where is Etihad then?!!! It ranked between the top 10 and is not even 4 star? Something doesn't seem right here.
