7 Simple Tips for 1,000,000 Vine Loops

With over 200 million users and 1.5 billion daily views (yes, that's half a trillion per year) Vine can no longer be ignored by digital marketers. As part of Orama's Social Video Studio we launched "The  Plate" a Vine channel (vine.co/orama), which quickly reached 1,000,000 loops. Below are 7 key lessons we learned in the process:

  1. Huge reach: It may be just a 6 second clip, but Vine still allows to make a strong impression of your brand and services. Our first 1,000,000 loops happened in two weeks and organically (averaging 100,000 views per post).
  2. Organic growth: Vine allows for faster organic growth than most other platform. Each post can be shared countless times, reaching a new audience every time (one of ours was revined 770 times).
  3. High engagement rate: 1.8% per view in average
  4. Animation budgets not required: A lot of Viners are animators but a brand can build a Vine channel by just repurposing existing footage with clever edits.
  5. It doesn't have to be comedy: Our posts are mainly fine dining, while entertaining to watch there is no comedy involved. Comedy is the biggest genre on Vine but it certainly isn't the only one.
  6. The most important one: Each post needs to be a complete story! The 6s edits need to be self contained and have a narrative, with good quality image and sound. Our channel took off straight afer we applied this rule.
  7. Phone edits don't work: It is tempting to try to just capture and post directly with the Vine app, unfortunately it's very hard to gain traction without a dedicated edit. Professional Viners go to great lengths for their own posts.
