Chapter News 🗞️

AFCEA London marked its 70th anniversary with a celebratory formal dinner on June 26 at the Founders’ Dining Hall at Royal Holloway, University of London.

AFCEA's first chapters in Europe were founded by U.S. forces associated with NATO . The London Chapter, founded in 1954, was centered on the U.S. Embassy and run by U.S. military personnel from an office in North Audley Street in Mayfair. Interestingly enough, early attempts to engage with the U.K. military were not well received as relationships then between the U.S. staffs and their British counterparts was somewhat “frosty,” writes chapter board member Christopher Yorke. “Things obviously thawed over time,” Yorke writes.

Over the years, “briefings” to industry became full-blown conferences with experts and speakers drawn from across the U.K. defense, government, industry and academia. In 2016, chapter leaders added a cybersecurity event into the two-year cycle and now the London Chapter runs an annual event—the combined Cyber and CIS Conference, or TriCyCIS.

The AFCEA London Chapter remains committed to serving professionals across defense, government, industry and academia for development of C5ISR.
