🧠 My Insights:

Several weeks back I reshared a blog that I drafted just over a year ago, which garnered over 5000+ views. In the piece, I discussed 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. At the time, I hadn’t tracked the level of interest it had generated (pun intended). Much of the content still seems super relevant, so I wanted to re-share it with you all this week.

On Monday, I drafted a blog where I covered 50+ Questions To Build Your Data Strategy Around. In the piece, I emphasised the importance of defining the "why" behind any organisation's data strategy, aligning them with concrete business goals to create tangible value.

Finally, in honour of the release of OpenAI’s GPT-4o model I published a blog which discussed how it can be harnessed across four sectors. Namely; Financial Services & Insurance, Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Energy & Utilities, and Automotive & Manufacturing in order to make use of its natively multimodal capabilities. I shared potential use cases for voice, text, and image channels within each industry. In all, I provided a list of 36 use cases across these 4 sectors. You can read the blog here: 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗣𝗧-𝟰𝗼: 𝟯𝟲 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀

📔 Guest Blog:

Last week, I shared our first guest blog in the form of Euan Wielewiski’s piece about the concentration of power around LLM’s and their ownership across a small pool of trusted providers. This week, I have included a piece by Michael Spencer, where he discusses the evolution and potential of 𝗔𝗜 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆, particularly in enterprise and SMB contexts. I found this a really helpful read and would recommend it to any organisation considering how best to deploy AI tooling in their businesses in order to explore ways in which they can boost productivity across their organisation.

🔍 Research & Reports:

This week's featured reports include a new piece published by Databricks which covers the State of Data & AI according to 9000+ of their customers. I’ve also included a seminal piece that anybody who is interested in the Generative AI and neural network scene has to read. The paper is called “Attention Is All You Needand was drafted in 2017 by 8 Google researchers. The paper introduces the notion of transformer models, which is something that we should all be familiar with now owing to the likes of ChatGPT, Anthropic and others! This paper has had a profound impact on subsequent advancements in NLP.

⚖️ Regulatory & Ethics Watch:

👉 Next week, Korea and Britain will co-host the AI Seoul Summit, building on the AI Safety Summit held in England last November.

Organised by Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT, the summit will feature leaders from major countries and global tech firms. The leaders' session will focus on "building on the AI Safety Summit: towards an innovative and inclusive future," while the ministers' session will address AI safety and sustainable development, with representatives from 19 countries discussing global cooperation on AI risks, including energy consumption.

The summit aims to establish safety, innovation, and inclusiveness as key goals for AI governance. I will share more on this next week as this will be a pivotal gathering for AI risk & governance. 🇰🇷🇬🇧

👉 The UK Department for Science, Innovation & Technology has issued a call for views on the cyber security of AI. The initiative aims to develop a voluntary Code of Practice and a global standard to address AI-related cyber security risks. With AI playing a crucial role in the UK economy, ensuring its secure development, deployment, and maintenance is vital. The call seeks feedback from stakeholders to help shape policy and improve AI security across all sectors. The deadline for responses is July 10, 2024.🔬

👉 The Archbishop of Canterbury has signed the Rome Call for AI Ethics in Rome, emphasising the need for AI to respect human dignity and benefit all individuals, not just developers. The document calls for ethical AI development to serve humanity, resist job replacement, and respect the environment. This collaborative effort involves religions, governments, and private sectors. Archbishop Justin highlighted the importance of ensuring AI advancements serve the common good and sustainable development. ⛪

🚀 This Weeks Survey:

Most technology leaders I speak with share diverse perspectives on their data monetisation strategies. Partially due to capabilities, data quality and risk appetite. Last year seemed to be about exploring possibilities and setting up initial frameworks for data quality and governance. This year, however, there's a noticeable shift towards more strategic and focused initiatives aimed at integrating data monetisation into core business processes and driving significant value.

To get a clearer picture of how different organisations are prioritising data monetisation, I've decided to conduct a survey. I invite my network and our readers to participate and share their insights. If you have 3-seconds to spare, then please take part in this week's survey to help us understand the current landscape and identify the key challenges and opportunities in data monetization.

Your input will be invaluable in shedding light on industry trends and helping us all navigate the evolving world of data-driven decision-making.
