Will AI replace the “human” in HR?
I don’t think it will. But what I can agree on is that it is going to revolutionize the traditional HR we have been practicing for decades. While AI cannot (at least for now) bring in the unique insights and empathy an HR practitioner offers, it can certainly enhance HR in surprisingly many ways.
As practitioner in HR, I have always believed in how technology can transform our working environment. I agree that it can be both a help and or hinderance to our work. Nevertheless, I cannot appreciate more that the integration of AI in HR is going to be an exciting development, but it is important for us to approach it with a thoughtful and strategic mindset.
Imagine having the ability to predict changes before they come crashing down on you. The power AI in HR is limitless. Not only it is going to enable you to proactively address potential challenges but have you enact the role of Tom Cruise in Minority Report trying to stop a crime before it takes place.
How much will you value your ability to predict why employees leave your organization and be able to take steps before it is too late? How much will you value your ability to improve employee experience? What about work efficiency and time saving?

HR departments to proactively address potential challenges and be ready to take necessary steps to avoid the situation. AI can give an extra edge to HR through use of AI-powered assistants to handle employee daily quarries and provide important guidance. Imagine how it can revolutionize the training and development with speed and cost efficiency. It can be trained to even monitoring workplace performance and stress and improve emotional intelligence of your workers so that they are more happy, relaxed and focused. Not to mentions the amount of time we can save and let go of the repetitive administrative tasks that takes the bulk of our time. HR departments can finally free up the much required time to focus on more important strategic things like adding value to the organization and becoming a true strategic business partner.
Nonetheless, it is important to remember that AI is not a silver bullet. No matter how advanced the technology becomes, HR’s role will always require human skills, knowledge, and empathy. While AI can assist HR in being more effective and strategic, it cannot replace the unique understanding that HR professionals bring to the table.
In conclusion, AI has the potential to greatly enhance HR departments and improve the way they work. As an HR practitioner, it is important to approach this technology with an open mind and find ways to effectively integrate it into our processes. The bottom line is that we can maximize its benefits and continue to deliver value to our organizations in a totally unprecedented way.
