AIntuition?

#AI and advanced #technology are becoming a big part of our daily lives. I often find myself reflecting on what makes us inherently human. My intuition has always been my guiding light and has helped me make major decisions, even when sometimes they were at odds with the brain and its fears and second-guessing.

Our #intuition sets us apart, enabling us to navigate complex #emotions and situations with a depth of understanding machines have yet to grasp. This is not an "us vs. them" scenario. Instead, I wonder how AI can complement human intuition and help to enhance our #capabilities without taking away our natural wisdom. Can AI develop its own form of "𝑨𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏" learning to understand and predict with a #sensitivity similar to ours?

In my summer class on #communication, #media, and #humanrights with Prof. Basilio Monteiro at St. John's University we explored many themes, including evolution of #consciousness, international order, skepticism, historical development of international human rights, #universality, #politics, corporate and multilateral organizations, socio-economic conditions, and tensions between human rights and political economy. One big concern I have is the #interconnectedness of human rights and technological advancement. The role of emerging technologies (such as AI and drone warfare) in shaping modern conflicts, makes me question what is happening to humanity?

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 #𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺? Where are we headed?

I believe we need the right AI that is acting solely on our behalf, sort of a #fiduciaryAI. But if humanity is busy creating bionic combat robots instead of finding cure for cancer, where do our priorities lie?!  Robots may make solders obsolete, but how about making #wars obsolete?

As we integrate AI more into our lives, we need to ask ourselves what aspects of our humanity do we wish to #preserve, and how can we ensure that machines enhance rather than diminish our unique human capabilities and experiences?

In seeking these answers, or rather questions, we must not only focus on technological advancement but also create space for deep #philosophical and #reflective #inquiry. This is what has always drawn me to the world of #academia where I feel free to question and comfortable not knowing. I can explore complex issues without the pressure of having immediate answers.

What I feel strongly about is that we need #ethical #governance of emerging technologies, #proactive conflict prevention measures, and #inclusive approaches to technology access. With these, we can inspire #collectiveaction toward a more #peaceful and rights-respecting world. We must explore the potential of technology to both exacerbate and mitigate conflicts, framing human rights in a broader context of technological progress and ethical responsibility.

But are we really ready and willing to do that?

Happy to discuss this with you at the upcoming AHRMIO annual conference in Rome! This special 25th anniversary AHRMIO Annual Conference 2024 will take place from October 28 to 30, hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Rome, Italy.  The overarching theme is Empowering People: Humanizing HR & Imagining Possibilities.  In an era where technology is rapidly advancing, the intersection AI and human potential holds immense promise. AHRMIO conference brings together thought leaders, industry experts, and HR professionals of international organizations and private sector, along with academics, to explore how we can harness the power of AI while keeping the human element at the forefront.
