#ALDIpower | Meet Orkun from Supply Chain Management Solutions department 

What is the most efficient and sustainable way to bring our products from the suppliers into the ALDI Nord stores? This is the central question that our colleagues in the Supply Chain Management Solutions department deal with daily. Orkun is one of them: As a Specialist Procurement Logistics he is responsible for challenging and improving our supply chain. 

In simple words, what is your job about? 

As a Specialist Procurement Logistics, I am part of the Supply Chain Management Solutions department. Our focus is taking care of the entire supply chain – from the procurement of the goods to the acceptance in the store. In practice this means, my colleagues and I analyse and challenge our logistics concepts on a regular basis to ensure an optimal and efficient supply chain.  

There are always new potentials for optimisation. My job is finding such and implement them. On a daily basis, this means that I prepare invitations to tender for service providers, make arrangements with suppliers and prepare as well as customise cost calculations. 

How does the impact of your department help shape the future of ALDI Nord? 

I like to compare our department with the image of a humble hero: Our work and our input is usually invisible in the daily doing, but still has a huge impact for the whole business. Without an efficient and functioning supply chain, our products and goods wouldn’t make it to our stores and therefore our costumers wouldn’t be able to choose from the accustomed product variety, that they are used to find.  

But not just our daily work is helping to shape the future of ALDI Nord. Also, we as a team contribute to the magic of the only true discount. Since every colleague is different and brings a diverse personality and skillset, we complement each other well and can combine the best of our power together. 

What is your personal #ALDIpower ? 

One of my favourite features about me is my positive attitude. I always see the glass halfway full instead of halfway empty and I never miss a joke. Therefore, I believe my personal #ALDIpower is creating a good atmosphere and work environment for my teammates and myself. With this mindset I am also able to ensure long term success for ALDI Nord. 

What makes working at ALDI Nord special for you? 

ALDI Nord is the inventor of discount – then and now, this is still impressive to me. After my last job as a freight forwarder, I was looking for a new challenge at an employer, that I could identify with. I was lucky enough to find that in ALDI and since September 2021 I am proud to be part of a global player in the food industry and make shopping for our customers as easy as possible. Also, I love our Campus in Essen as well as the developing opportunities and the liberty that ALDI Nord offers to me. Every day is different, which makes my job challenging and exciting all at once.
