"All This for ME?"

"All This for ME?"

After years of working in video production, I realized what I do best and why brands hire me to do it – and that is to form a connection, a connection between the brand and their consumers--ultimately, to build a visual connection to their brand strategy .

My goal is to move people in order to make the brand that hires me be more relevant and ultimately make more money. But there is a collateral side to this realization that makes this job the best job anyone has the privilege to have. And that is the way it makes the ordinary person feel extraordinary. It’s hard to imagine how proud it makes an individual who exceeds in their livelihood – and suddenly are faced with a video crew, a video crew whose only purpose is to capture his or her soul.

WOW! Their faces say it all. – “All this for me?” – It makes them feel proud, energized, and filled with such optimism. This by far, is the best and most rewarding part of my job. There’ve been video shoots – when the protagonist –(the person we are highlighting) invites their families, friends to meet me – to experience the lights, cameras - to share their excitement.

There was one young man in Idaho who invited his family to see the production. I heard his wife whisper, “I am so proud of you- you’ve accomplished so much.” This, by far, is the most rewarding part of my job -- making ordinary people feel extraordinary – because they are. And it gives me great pleasure to know we can touch the lives of so many in a creative way, and a way that meets and exceeds the clients’ objectives.

This is The power of video – this visual tool that is unparalleled by any other art form -- it includes the written word, photography, sound, motion -- it’s the ideal format to tell a story. This blog is to share and learn from those who are interested in this endeavor and from those folks who want to share so I can continue to learn and have fun doing it.
