All who wonder are far from lost.

All who wonder are far from lost.

The path to finding more creative ideas can be one that doesn't exist on any known map, you often have to head down directions you had never imagined and more often than not get lost along the way but that is all part of the journey and in my eyes it makes it all the more enjoyable.

Curiosity may have killed the cat but it doesn't kill creativity. It is the lifeblood of ideas and more creative thinking.

To live and lead a more creative life you need to be forever curious.

Whenever I am asked where my ideas come from I say - 'I don't know'. And it's true, I really don't. They appear after much daydreaming, pondering, a little procrastination, some mindful meandering, and some distractions.

Anybody working in a creative industry where ideas are your stock in trade should be encouraged by their bosses and leaders to wander and wonder. For me a good stroll around the streets allows me to come up with more ideas. Offices are simply not creative environments, no matter how many skateboards, ball pits, bean bags, and ping pong tables exist. They're just decorations.

Ideas live everywhere but not in the confines of the space you are ensconced in on a daily basis.

And more often than not, the harder the ideas are to find the better they will be. A little bit of effort in the search can take you a long way. Sure that first spark of genius that popped out in the first five minutes may just be the best idea but you're not giving the others a chance to strut their stuff in your grey matter. Play fair. Equal time for all thoughts.

So next time you're lost for an idea let your mind wonder...a lot. You never know what crazy ideas may appear. And if someone says it looks like you're just daydreaming tell them you are because it's actually your job.
