Alpha Space's MISSE is Deployed on the ISS
Is there anything more beautiful than a picture of the earth from space, with human ingenuity highlighted in the foreground? Not to me.
Alpha Space Test & Research Alliance launched its MISSE flight facility this week. It was extracted from the Dragon trunk last night and will be installed on the outside of the ISS soon. After that, it's open for business as a commercial test and science facility - the first of its kind.
The team at Alpha Space has done an amazing job getting the technology to this point and deserve all the credit in the world. They had great help from MEI Technologies, NASA, and CASIS (the Center for Advancement of Science in Space). NASA has proved again that it embraces the idea of commercial activities on the ISS. And Alpha Space's founder, Stephanie Murphy, deserves huge kudos for her vision and for pulling all of the pieces together!
There may never have been an easier, lower cost way to get new technologies to space, tested, and returned. We will be sending and returning MISSE carriers, with their samples, experiments, and test units, to and from the ISS every six months. If you have something to test in the vacuum of space, check us out at www.alphaspace.com
MISSE is open for business - if it fits, it flies.
