What sparked your interest in AI?

Little known facts about me, I am a Finance major with an International Business minor. My first job post-college was working for a currency brokerage firm. Numbers and data are part of my career origin story. They have remained important to me and something that my pragmatic side leans on for support and underlies much of my work. While the majority of the remainder of my career is in HR and leadership development, I also spent a four-year period working in strategic partnerships and integrations for an HR tech company. This was the place where my passions came together – people and data. I was able to have a hand in building a system with the aim of creating a data loop that would help you define great fit at your company and hire for that fit. Data is what trains AI, so naturally AI has been a fascination. And, with the more recent entrance of generative AI, its access and usability have made it a no-brainer.

What are you most excited about when it comes to AI?

So. Many. Things. TLDR – the potential of AI to make us more efficient, effective, and impactful. To upskill those who may not have had opportunities, to level the playing field, to decrease the divide between those doing the day-to-day work to those at the top of the organization.

My 48 hours with AI

  1. To synthesize and extract data from a large file. I missed a virtual event but had access to the transcript. I didn’t want to watch the full event because my primary goal was to understand the key topics that they discussed. So, I uploaded the transcript to ChatGPT using the Advanced Data Analysis tool and first asked, ‘Reformat this sheet to have the times be in one column and text in the column next to the times.’ Next, I asked, ‘Extract the questions from the file.’ It worked brilliantly to pull the ❓s.
  2. To extract a page from a PDF workbook. Uploaded the file to ChatGPT and said, ‘Extract page 14.’ And, voilà, it appeared! 🪄
  3. To get a self-awareness check. I wanted to understand how my email comms might be perceived or interpreted. First, I asked, ‘What are types of sentiment analysis that can be completed on email text?’ Then I copy/pasted into ChatGPT, and asked, ‘Run sentiment analysis on this message.’ 🤯
  4. To create a flowchart. I used ChatGPT and tested quite a few prompts, providing ample context, but it was an epic fail. The flowchart was very basic and very aesthetically unappealing 🚫
  5. To build a content calendar. I used Notion’s AI tool. I asked it to create a newsletter calendar with the following columns (included headers) and I referenced another Notion page to include topic and guest suggestions. (chef’s kiss!)
  6. To summarize and extract key data points and takeaways from research and white papers. Using either (or, if I have the time to compare across all three, I’ll do it!) Perplexity, Claude, and/or ChatGPT, I will either copy/paste the text or upload the document, and ask a variation of, ‘Acting as a CHRO, review and summarize the attached document and extract the top 10 data points and top 5 key takeaways.’
  7. To generate Pixar-like images of my dog, Louise. I used DALL-E3 and had a blast. LinkedIn carousel with the evolution of Louise to Pixar form coming soon! For now, enjoy one of the many iterations. 🐶
