Announcement of first issue of Journal of Applied Learning & Teaching & invitation to Symposium on 24 August in Singapore
I am happy to announce — also on behalf of my editorial colleagues Chris Harris and Eric Yeo — that the first issue of JALT is available at the website http://journals.sfu.ca/jalt. It has been a long time coming and while the journal continues to be a steep learning curve, we are pleased with the content of the first issue (I’m certainly not denying my bias!). Please rest assured that we are striving for continual improvement (amongst other things, the JALT website is in the midst of being redesigned) and welcoming all feedback, while we are already preparing for the second issue in November.
JALT is an open-access online journal that provides higher education practitioners and academics a one-stop platform for speedy, peer-reviewed publication. It is our aim to share best academic practices (including, but not limited to, instructional practices, curriculum design, assessment and measurement, educational policy, educational technology, teaching and learning, and learning sciences) across a variety of disciplines. The journal is open to contributions from around the world.
JALT consists of original work, reviews of existing literature, education technology reviews and book reviews. We continue to welcome any contributions along the aforementioned lines as well as your availability as a peer reviewer — if you are available for any of this or you would like to discuss an idea for contribution, just drop me an email (jurgen.rudolph@kaplan.com). Also please feel encouraged to spread the word!
This is also to let you know that Murdoch University (Singapore campus) — with big thanks to its Dean, Associate Prof Peter Waring — is a Symposium on 24 August. Selected contributions to the symposium will be published in JALT. The Symposium is free of charge. You can write to me if you would like to contribute (or attend) the one-day symposium (to be held at Murdoch University Singapore’s premises in King’s Centre) and I would let the know.
Alternatively, you can also write directly MurdochSGP@murdoch.edu.au. The Symposium website is: http://www.murdoch.sg/news/singapore-symposium-on-applied-learning-teaching/
