Applications for Master of Information Technology Strategy (MITS) Now Open

Are you looking for a unique master’s program that uses a multidisciplinary approach to prepare you to be a leader within the information, AI, and cyber-security domains? Applications for the Master of Information Technology Strategy (MITS) opened October 15, 2022 and will close January 15, 2023.

The Master of Information Technology Strategy (MITS) is a cooperative endeavor of Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Engineering, School of Computer Science, and the Institute for Politics and Strategy. Over the course of a 12- or 16-month program, the MITS program offers students breadth through core coursework in four areas that are essential to develop astute, knowledgeable, and practiced leaders in cyber security and information dominance: Data Analytics, Politics and Strategy, Information Security, and Software and Networked Systems. Students also complete a concentration in one of those areas. 

In addition to the four concentration areas mentioned above, other unique features of the MITS program include:

• A seminar course which provides students with the opportunity to broaden their understanding of how what they learn in courses is being applied by thought leaders.
• A semester-long capstone project that promotes team-based engagement on a real-world problem related to MITS concentration areas.
• A summer internship relevant to each student’s field of study (for the 16-month Applied Study program). 

The MITS program helps shape students into leaders by leveraging Carnegie Mellon University’s broad expertise in the critical areas of AI, cybersecurity, and information dominance, drawing from CMU’s faculty, research centers, and degree programs of international renown. Graduates go on to careers as data scientists, software engineers, military cyber operations officers, artificial intelligence and machine learning engineers, and business technology analysts for companies such as Oracle, Microsoft, Barclays, Deloitte, Apple, Google, DoorDash, and the Department of Defense.
