April Update

Welcome back to the c-suite podcast newsletter, here to update you on what we've been up to in the last couple months and what's coming soon!

Recently on the pod...

The last few months have been very busy creating amazing content. We hope you have enjoyed watching or listening to the show as much as we've enjoyed prepping, recording, editing and sharing these new episodes with you.

A new season of our Unicorn Leaders series!

To kick off the latest season of our Unicorn Leaders series, Russell Goldsmith and Debbie West spoke with Sami Inkinen , CEO and co-founder of Virta Health , a pioneering force in type two diabetes reversal and innovative healthcare solutions. Based in Denver, Colorado, Sami shared insights on Virta Health's journey from its founding in 2014 to achieving unicorn status in December 2020, culminating in a remarkable $2 billion valuation milestone in July 2023.

He also shared some of his sporting experiences such as rowing all the way from San Francisco to Hawaii (!!!) and what lessons he takes from the sporting world to the business world, such as focussing on the process, not just achieving the milestones and always asking yourself 'What three things would I do differently next time' after an experience, to get the most out of every opportunity.

Recording in Las Vegas for Shoptalk with Bread Financial

Having recorded the c-suite podcast at Money20/20 Las Vegas in the Venetian last October, we headed to the other end of the Strip to the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino for Shoptalk , this time working with the great team at Bread Financial who partnered with us for the event.

Once again, Las Vegas didn’t disappoint – conferences hosted there are simply another level. We followed up our 26 interviews from SXSW the week before, with 26 more across the two days of the expo. We got to hear from the Shoptalk team themselves, retailers such as Boll & Branch (did you know four US presidents are customers of theirs), tech providers including big friends of the c-suite podcast, SAP , and of course our clients at Bread Financial , who shared findings of their new report ‘The State of the Middle-Class Shopper’.

This resulted in over 2.5hrs of content, split into four new episodes of the podcast.

Once again, a big shout out to our wonderful clients at Bread Financial, a tech forward financial services company providing simple, personalized payment, lending and saving solutions. Please visit their site for more information.

New Episodes from SXSW in Austin, Texas with Remote

We flew out to Austin, Texas to take the c-suite podcast to SXSW , the annual celebration of tech, film, music, education and culture. We recorded 26 interviews on Remote's booth in the Creative Industries Expo, including guests such as Daniel Clancy , CEO of Twitch , discussing topics from the future of work to AI's role.

Marcelo Lebre , President of Remote was on hand to offer his insights and to share the latest Remote news. Since our last talk in Helsinki, Remote has grown with new hires and products, becoming a global HR backbone.

Ken Oliver Interview

One of the highlights of our time at SXSW was getting the chance to speak with Larry Miller, Chairman of the Jordan Brand Advisory Board at Nike . He spoke on a session about fair chance hiring along with Ken O. , VP of Corporate Social Responsibility, Checkr, Inc. and Jeffrey Korzenik , Chief Economist, Fifth Third Bank . As well as speaking about the benefits of integrating justice-impacted workers into the workplace, Larry shared his own deeply personal story, involving serving time in a juvenile detention centre and prison to turning his life around and climbing to the very top of the corporate ladder at Nike. A story that must be heard to be believed.

A new episode on Internal Comms with Debbie West

In this episode we interviewed our own Debbie West to discuss the benefits of involving specialists in producing internal communication podcasts, citing their expertise in saving time, ensuring professional quality, and allowing internal comms leaders to focus on strategic aspects. Debbie explained how podcasts can be effective in engaging employees and amplifying leadership voices whilst maintaining authenticity and relevance.

Navigating internal channels for effective communication

In this upcoming episode Debbie West asks three internal communications leads how they manage to balance the challenges of ensuring everyone in their organisation gets access to the information they need to feel connected and able to collaborate effectively, without creating too much noise. Niamh O'Grady , Keith Berman and Natalie Lambracos share their successes, their set backs and their expertise in this engaging episode.

The Unicorn Leaders series continues

We're recording the next episode in our new series of Unicorn Leaders interviews with David Obrand , CEO at Salesloft 'the AI-powered revenue orchestration platform'.

David is a proven SaaS veteran with more than three decades of leadership experience in sales, tech, and operations including roles as COO and CEO for a number of SaaS companies. We're really looking forward to this conversation and getting to share his advice with you all soon.
