The Art Institutes Training Series
During the covid crisis Miami International University of Art & Design professors Bryan Hiveley (Visual Arts), Kyle Farley (Digital Film) and Vice President of Operations Roger Hosn pitched to the Art Institutes the idea of offering online content in a new YouTube channel. College level lessons running 10 minutes or less would be taught by professors in Media Arts, Fashion, Culinary and Design.
The first two episodes were produced at the AiMIU campus, utilizing the Media Arts studios, equipment cage and computer labs. Shot in 4K with a Sony FS5M2, the lessons were prepared and presented by Bryan covering several Adobe Photoshop skills.
The creation of this unique channel is pending approval, and it is our hope that easily digested college level content will spark in the YoutTube community an excitement for the applied arts. You can watch the two pilot episodes below.
Episode 1: Professor Bryan Hiveley from the Visual Arts department at Miami International University of Art & Design teaches the Bezel Effect using Adobe Photoshop. The Bezold effect, named after a German professor of meteorology, Wilhelm von Bezold, who discovered that a color may appear different depending on its relation to adjacent colors. It happens when small areas of color are interspersed.
Professor Bryan Hiveley from the Visual Arts department at Miami International University of Art & Design teaches Analogous Color Schemes using a personal camera and Adobe Photoshop. Analogous color schemes use colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. Mixing colors that are adjacent to each other creates a colorful yet harmonious look.
