Atomic Habits + YouTube Ads = 📈

One of my favorite books is James Clear’s Atomic Habits, where he teaches how small changes & tiny habits can lead to Massive Results!

One of his key principles is about getting 1% better every day & how that compounds over time - a principle I aspire to live my life by each day. That got me thinking — 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘀?

𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝟭% 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿" 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆

James Clear talks about the power of getting 1% better every day in "Atomic Habits," and when you apply this to YouTube Ads, it's like pouring rocket fuel on your campaigns!

"𝘏𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧-𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮." - James Clear, Atomic Habits

𝗡𝗼𝘄, 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭% 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆. 𝗜𝗻 𝗮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝟯𝟳 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿! That's not 37% better – that's 37 TIMES better. Mind-blown yet? 🤯

Let's break this down into actionable steps:

𝟭. 𝗗𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗥𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹

Set aside 15 minutes every single day to review your ad performance. Look at your key metrics:

- Click-Through Rate (CTR)

- View Rate

- Cost Per View (CPV)

- Conversion Rate

- Cost Per Action/Conversion (CPA)

- Return on Ad Spend (ROAS)

Find ONE tiny thing you can tweak to improve. Maybe it's adjusting your funnel, tweaking one line in your script, testing a new ad, or honing in on the targeting.

These small optimizations & improvements compound over time — getting 1% better at your ads every day leads to massive results!

𝟮. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝗔𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰" 𝗦𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁

Instead of making massive changes, run micro split tests. Test one small element at a time:

- Try 3-5 slightly different hooks

- Test a change in your funnel / landing page

- Experiment with different audiences in your targeting

Remember, we're aiming for 1% improvements. These small wins compound over time!

𝟯. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Clear talks about "habit stacking" – linking a new habit to an existing one. Let's apply this to creating YouTube Ads:

𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 [𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗛𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗧], 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 [𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗛𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗧].

For example: "After I check my email each morning, I will spend 10 minutes checking & optimizing my YouTube Ads."

This makes consistent ad optimization a natural part of your day.

At AdOutreach, we’ve helped 3,000+ coaches, consultants & course creators scale with YouTube Ads — and we’ve found one of the most consistent determining factors of success are those that created the HABIT of checking & optimizing their ads on a regular basis.

𝟰. 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲

James Clear emphasizes the importance of environment in habit formation. Let's create an environment that makes YouTube Ad success inevitable:

- Set up automated daily metrics / performance reports (What gets measured gets managed — so it’s Important to measure results)

- Keep all the tabs you need to manage your ads in one place - if you use Google Chrome you can bookmark Google Ads, Your Tracking Spreadsheet, Your YouTube Channel Analytics & your YouTube Ad Training Program (such as the one we offer at AdOutreach 😉 )

- When you go in to manage your ads, make sure you free yourself from distractions so you can focus & maybe even set a 15 minute timer

𝟱. 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆

Here's where it gets powerful. Start thinking of yourself as "a Marketing Master" rather than someone who's trying to get better at ads.

"𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘤 𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘢 𝘩𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘺. 𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘐'𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴. 𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘐'𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴."

When you adopt this mindset, consistently working on and improving your YouTube Ads becomes second nature. It's just who you are.

𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘀

Remember what James Clear says:

"𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭𝘴. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴."

This Atomic YouTube Ads approach is all about building a system for consistent, compounding improvement. It's not about massive overhauls or "hacks." It's about showing up every day and getting that 1% better.
