Battle with time

Battle with time

Battling time makes no sense. The winner is always time. Time is moving faster or slower but always or almost always drives either to oblivion or to history… As a nation, we Greeks (Hellenes) seem to have been collectively decepted and believe that our current battle is one with time. We also seem to believe, that the winner, time will place its trophy in oblivion era and thus we will forget all difficulties and along with the next sun rise we will run to the beaches to celebrate a new beginning. A new start in which we will have been driven at no cost with no particular efforts with the sole tool being our capability which is called “strong oblivion”

In reality we fight a battle with the bad side of our self. Something like the "dark side of the moon" of Pink Floyd. That egoist, smug and narcissist neo-greek which by being descendant of a great nation can declare its future alone. With no pain, rightfully as the result of another sun rise, the next day. In this country there is no place for the market. Although its power is so strong that has driven the whole world to changes – because "this is Greece" – nothing is going to happen here. Our bad side strives that this is a set “nightmare”, and finally the strong powers of inertia, inactivity and high costs will survive. Exactly like anyone who stands without swinging focused on its targets.

The final result is clear and inevitable: The market as the resultant of several powers, having all sorts of different motives will press for the solution in the core of the problem. They will not accept a short term liquidity aid, instead they will keep asking for the generation of sustainable surpluses that will allow the cut of total debt. They will ask for the creation of growth presuppositions. Markets always know: They offer funding only where the expected returns will not only cover costs, but there, where money will generate an environment for even bigger and more profitable investments. Otherwise they will poise for such collaterals, such high interest rates, that will either offer coverage against risk or divert lending. One way or another we, as Hellas (Greece) will have to choose from a serious national reformation and the battle with time, no oblivion granted…
