#BeBetter with Peloton

#BeBetter with Peloton

As someone who is challenged with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD), regular physical exercise is a must to keep me focused. Most importantly, daily cardio completed first thing in the morning enables me to burn-off excess energy and start my day with a clear head.

Like many people during the pandemic who were unable to go to the gym, I set up an in-home gym to keep up with my workouts. When I wasn’t exercising outdoors, I used my home gym for Peloton classes, strength training, and yoga, helping me to remain consistent with my self-care.

Peloton reminds me of the pillars of success: commitment, consistency, and perseverance. Without these three ingredients, no exercise program will produce results. This also holds true for any goal we set for ourselves. It’s not enough to have a goal. We must take purposeful actions towards achieving it every day.

The Commitment of a Recovering Runner

Last year, I was gifted a Peloton bike and it has been transformational for my mental and physical health. I have been an avid runner for more than seven years, but the continual pounding was beginning to take its toll on my joints. It was time to change things up if I wanted to continue to enjoy optimal physical health and avoid further damage.

The Peloton’s low impact activities have been a “kinder, gentler” solution. An investment of 30-45 minutes three times per week has resulted in me dropping excess weight. Additionally, the variety of coaches from around the world keeps my interest and prevents me from getting bored, which is another key benefit for people with AD/HD.

Consistency Fueled by Variety

My favorite Peloton instructor is Kendall Toole. She has high energy and a diverse athletic background, which fuels her workouts. I particularly enjoy the high intensity interval training (HIIT) and hills ride as it’s great to be able to mix it up.

I’ve recently dipped my toe into many of Peloton’s online classes, including boot camps and yoga. The choices are endless! The Peloton has also inspired me to attend boxing classes in my city. This definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone!

Persevering with Peloton

A goal without action is simply a wish. It’s not enough to want to be physically fit. You must take ownership of your health, set measurable goals, and persevere through tough workouts or busy schedules. What we make time for in our lives is what is important to us.

Since incorporating the Peloton into my workout routine, I’ve been at my best physically and mentally. I am not a paid spokesperson for the company, yet I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to be able to maintain a regular exercise routine whether cooped up inside due to inclement weather or otherwise.

This month, my team is paying attention to their wellbeing. We are providing a variety of suggestions to them for self-care so that they begin the new year with their health as a priority. Since our workforce is 100% remote, it is critical that everyone embraces a healthy mindset that includes physical exercise, rest, and healthy eating habits.

I could not be happier with the results of my regular Peloton workouts and I look forward to discovering the many new options they continue to roll out to keep this focus-challenged CEO mentally and physically fit for years to come.

This post is a year old but it just came up on my feed. Love seeing the CEO of the company I work for be so candid about the struggles of a neurodivergent, being one myself. It’s great to see someone in a leadership role acknowledge the difficulties faced by our community and ways to combat those difficulties that can translate to every aspect of work and life! I’m not a Pelton owner….yet! But I may have to look into one now as I have decided 2023 is the year that I’m going to take better control of my physical health. Bravo! 👏🏻
