  • Chef does not do all about the cooking. Basically, chef is the person who manages things within the kitchen. Normally, choosing the raw material and ingredients is what a chef does. Moreover, if there are some issues emerging within the kitchen, a chef will be the one who in charge in order to solve the problems. (Culinary, n.d.).
  • Gain work experience as much as you can. Gathering practical work experience is really important in terms of being a chef because higher education does not make you to be a chef easily (Beckman, 2015). Also, you can improve your skills in kitchen by learning from the professional chef. He or she will have a guidance which you can not learn from the lecture. Moreover, work experience is a great networking opportunity (Culinary, n.d.).

  • 4-years schools. Culinary school is quite important as well in terms of how to do management and marketing. You can study to make different cuisines in different methods from the lecture, but to be good at it, you have to practice more and more. Culinary school will assist students to run their own restaurant or other food related to business. However, it will be easier to open and manage his or her restaurant if you have not only education but also experience (Culinary, n.d.).

Being a chef is very stressful, and some say that it is grueling. However, it is also very fun, creative, and rewarding in terms of feeding customers and make them happy at the end of their meal (Norwick, 2013).
