Beyonce's Superbowl Marketing Masterclass


Chances are if you caught the Superbowl you were either blown away by Usher's performance or on the edge of your seat enjoying an overtime thriller.


But did you notice the marketing masterclass that was woven within?


Listen, it's no secret I'm a card-carrying member of the Beyhive.


But what I love even more than Beyonce's music and electrifying performances is her business and marketing savvy.


And at this year's SuperBowl, she put on a Marketing Masterclass on just how to PIVOT effectively.


Here's what you need to know.


When you roll out something new--something significantly different or elevated from what you've done before, you don't merely plop it on the market and expect a positive reaction.


You have to build anticipation first.


Then release it with a strategic bang!


And that's exactly what she did.


Remember when Beyonce' left many wondering about her fashion choice at the Grammys?


Why in the world was she wearing a cowboy hat?



This was a move that left many scratching their heads...until last night.


Enter the Verizon Superbowl commercial in which she was featured that ended with the following last words: "Okay, they ready. Drop the new music."


What just happened here?


Beyonce collaborated with an elite brand to receive air time during the most-watched television event of the year, in which she introduced her new PIVOT into country music (including two new songs that dropped that night).


Here's the lesson...


One of my areas of specialty is the ultra-high-ticket space. And I find that many considering entering this space seemingly naively think:


"Okay, I'll just raise my prices to an ultra-high-ticket level and BAM! Next thing you know, I'm making ultra-high ticket sales!"


Good luck with that.


The roll-out matters.


The credibility you've already established matters.


The ability to leverage the credibility of others to your benefit matters.


The timing matters.


And how you introduce it to the world matters too.


All of this matters and more when it comes to whether you launch successfully or fall flat.


In other words, one social media post ain't going to cut it.


You can PIVOT into the Ultra-High-Ticket space or a new field entirely IF you do it strategically.


And by the way...no Superbowl commercial is required.
