Influenced by the changing world around us, recent trends have focused on everything from Scandinavian design and sustainability to bold colour confidence and full-on maximalism. So what does 2019 have in store? Well, expect to see neutral colour palettes completely redesigned, interiors that search for the stars and a return to iconic 70s style.
Keep scrolling for five of our favourite interiors trends that you won’t want to miss in 2019…
Seventies Style
Following in fashion’s footsteps, the seventies are making a stellar return to interiors in 2019. Natural materials such as bamboo, wicker and rattan are being championed and paired with plenty of greenery, luxe layering and colourful tassel details.
Curved Corners
The trend for curves is set to skyrocket in 2019, with on-trend scalloped edges, crescent silhouettes and graceful curved corners taking over both furniture and accessories in the home. If you’re a fan of interior design duo 2LG Studio you may have even seen their new kitchen reveal with beautiful curved cabinetry throughout – check out our recent blog post for more on this. As firm advocates of this trend, there’s no denying that curves are set to become the shape of choice for 2019. To reflect the trend in your own home, look to everything from curved sofas and furniture, to mirrors, lighting and side tables.
Modern Minimalism
Minimal living is no stranger when it comes to the hottest interior trends, however, this year we’re seeing a switch from Nordic design to contemporary, industrial style. Simple clean lines are combined with urban textures, matt finishes and a priority on usability to make our everyday lives easier, all whilst looking effortlessly chic.
The New Neutrals
White walls have some serious competition in 2019 with the arrival of a new approach to neutral palettes. As colour confidence has grown over the last few years, the demand for pale tones and blush pink has evolved to create a whole new range of neutrals, from Dulux’s warm and inviting 2019 Colour of the Year Spiced Honey, to Little Greene’s new palette of sumptuous green shades, and the subtle grey tones of Benjamin Moore’s Colour of the Year Metropolitan AF-690. For the adventurous, check out Farrow & Ball’s new paint colour Sulking Room Pink – the perfect grown-up pink with an indulgent, earthy undertone.
The Night Sky
With the launch of projects such as SpaceX and Virgin Galactic making space travel a possibility in the not-so-distant future, the latest interior trends are looking to the sky for inspiration. From star constellations and vast galaxies, to rich midnight blue tones, the trend explores a decadently dark colour scheme with all the intrigue of the night sky.
