On June 26, the new Helium Recovery Center was officially inaugurated at the Bruker Ettlingen Campus in Germany in the presence of representatives from the city, research, science, and industry partners, demonstrating Bruker's deep commitment to sustainability. Helium is needed to cool superconducting magnets used in laboratories worldwide and is a valuable, non-renewable resource. To minimize its consumption, Bruker has developed the HelioSmart technology. The HelioSmart Liquefaction solution captures the evaporating helium used to cool the magnets, compresses it into high-pressure cylinders, cleans it, and makes it accessible for liquefaction, allowing for a full recycling loop. "Our HelioSmart system enables a helium recovery rate of 95% or more, making a significant contribution to making laboratory operations for customers worldwide in the service of life science, clinical, and pharmaceutical research more resource-efficient and sustainable," says Dr. Thorsten Thiel, President of the Services & Life Cycle Division at Bruker.

Prof. Zaver M. Bhujwalla, at Johns Hopkins Medicine, will review in vivo (e.g. PET/MR) and cellular and molecular (e.g. MRI/NMR spectroscopy) preclinical studies that provide new insights into varied tumor profiles/types and the underlying interplay in PD-L1 status, hypoxia, and fibroblasts in the tumor microenvironment. Such insights pave the way for improved therapies.

Benchtop Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometers are versatile tools for structure elucidation and verification, reaction monitoring, and quality control. In contrast to their larger, floor-standing counterparts they are an order of magnitude less expensive in acquisition, have negligible operating costs, and require only minimal laboratory infrastructure.

In "Thermodynamic and Kinetic Characterization of a Hydrolysis Reaction Using the Adjustable Temperature Feature of the Fourier 80", Niels Karschin showcases the versatility and affordability of Bruker's Fourier 80 Benchtop NMR spectrometer with the Adjustable Temperature feature, perfect for a range of applications.

NMR Methods Applied to Food and Clinical in Our Italian Office in Milan!

Thanks to Istituto Superiore di Sanità (Core Facilities) and the Dipartimento di Scienze Farmaceutiche UniPG ( Università degli Studi di Perugia ) for attending the theoretical & practical course on NMR methods applied to Food and Clinical applications in our Italian office in Milan! During the course, participants explored the main statistical methods used in NMR spectra analysis (such as PCA and PLS) for studying biological fluids and food. They achieved this by using a Bruker Avance 400MHz NMR spectrometer equipped with a multinuclear probe for high resolution, along with the TopSpin 4 management software. Additionally, attendees learned about experimental spectra acquisition techniques suitable for various situations.
